Pattye Lavene Oakley, 82 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her residence in Trimble,Tennessee. She and her husband, Dr. William P. Oakley, had called Trimble their home for the last fifteen years where they were involved in the life and ministry of Trimble First Baptist Church..
Born Monday, June 13, 1932, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late James Elvis Norman and the late Arkie Mae Stafford Norman. She will be fondly remembered all over the south for her inspiring and comedy skits portraying" Elvira from Booger Hollow." She was a true servant for the Lord and a faithful Pastor's wife serving all aspects of the church, but missions was her passion. Serving as a Sunday School Teacher of over sixty years, she touched many lives with her knowledge. Mrs. Oakley was a member of the Trimble First Baptist Church, Trimble Lion's Club and Trimble Women's Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 30, 2015, at Trimble First Baptist Church in Trimble, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Dr. William P. Oakley and Rev. Joe Oakley. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg,Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Trimble First Baptist Church in Trimble, Tennessee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of sixty four years, Dr. William P. "Bill" Oakley of Dyersburg, Tennessee, three daughters; Libby George (K.S.) of Dyer, Tennessee, Dianna Seymour (Clark), Plano, Texas and Michelle Walker (Jeffrey) of Blytheville, Arkansas; one son, Rev. Joe Oakley (Deborah) of Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Eleanor Alvord (Robert) of Chicago, Illinois and Joy Maly(Eddie), Southaven, Mississippi; five grandchildren; Jason Oakley (Aubrie), Scott Clement (Marianna), Kristen Sees (Jesse), Willie George (Kathleen) and Patrick Wilkerson (Maria) and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Paul E. Oakley and a sister, Janie Moore.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Wilkerson, Scott Clement, Jason Oakley, Jeffrey Walker, K.S. George, and Clark Seymour, David Saravia and Jesse Sees.
The family ask that memorials be directed to The Mission Fund of Trimble First Baptist Church, P.O. Box # 187, Trimble, Tennessee 38259.
