ASHTABULA –Stella Howell, 81, formerly of Tivision Place went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. Jesus sent His angels to bring her home to Heaven on October 21, 2008 from the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born December 8, 1926 in Bypro, KY, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Hall) Smith and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1965.
A 1946 graduate of McDowell High School, McDowell KY, she married Earmon Howell on August 30, 1947 in Pikeville, KY.
A member of the Pentecostal Church of God since March 18, 1970 (when she had her spiritual birthday). She dearly loved her family and church family, adopting Pastor Kenny’s children as if they were her own. Mrs. Howell was also a meticulous record keeper, and she enjoyed tracing her families history.
Her survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Jerry) Valentine of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, Stephanie Valentine, John (Lynette) Stiles, and Jimmie Stiles; one sister, Etta Mae Thornsberry of Michigan; five nephews, Rodney, Michael, Marvin, Rex and Raymond; and her beloved cat Miss Peapoo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Earmon Howell on June 25, 2008; one daughter, Clara Stiles; and her parents.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
A service will be held 11 AM on Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Ducro Funeral Home. Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
