Funeral Services for Walter C. Schulle, 90, of Caldwell will be held Monday, November 9, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at the Elizabeth Lutheran Church of Caldwell with Rev. Skip Stutts officiating. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home. A visitation is set for Sunday, November 8th from 6 to 8 PM at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Walter passed away November 6th at St. Josephs Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Pallbearers will be family members. Walter was born October 30, 1919 to Adolph Schulle and Hedwig Anton Schulle in Westoff, Texas. He married Katie Ermel on January 4, 1947, in Houston, Texas. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They resided in Harlingen, Texas for 61 years and recently had moved to Caldwell. Walter was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Harlingen for 60 years before moving to Caldwell where he recently transferred to the Elizabeth Lutheran Church. He served his country in WWII from 1943 -1946, as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the IBEW L.U. 278 for 43 years, retiring from Lawrence Electric in 1985. Walter is survived by his wife Katie Schulle of Caldwell, son, Paul L. Schulle and his wife Clair, daughter Karen A. Speck and her husband Tommy, brother Alfred & Sally Schulle of Palestine, Texas, grandchildren: Darlene & Adrian Gonzales, Jason & Melinda Speck, Clinton & Mary Ellen Schulle, Jamie & Brad Balcar, and step-grandson Jim & Jo Ann Lewis, great grand children: Nathan Balcar, Travis Balcar, Madeline Speck, Andrew Speck, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Hibert Schulle and sisters; Dora Faires, Rosa Crawford, Clara Wilkerson & Bertha Sens.
