Vickie Lynn Avery, 58, of Genoa died in her home Sunday morning, February 19, 2012. Vickie was born August 18, 1953, in Oregon, Ohio, to Lyle and Gloria (Tackas) Phillips. She was a 1972 graduate of Clay High School. On January 19, 1973, in Bono, Ohio, she married Thomas E. Avery, Sr., who survives. For 25 years Vickie drove school bus for Genoa Area Local Schools, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved the children that she drove on her bus those many years. She was a very loving, caring and a most giving person. Vickie's many hobbies included yard work, gardening, crafts, painting, crocheting, golfing and travelling; but the hobby she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Tom, Vickie is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Tim) Helle of Genoa and son, Thomas (Jenny) Avery, Jr. of Noblesville, Indiana, grandchildren Jacob Helle, Madison Helle and Aila Avery and her father and step mother, Lyle and Alice Phillips of Curtice. Her mother preceded her in death. The family would like to especially thank Vickie's best friend, Kathy Dewey and the staff of Hospice: Ginny, Brenda, Tomi, Bev and Ann. A Celebration of Life for Vickie is planned for Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 12-5 p.m. at Vickie's home in Genoa. Cremation has taken place under the direct care of the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa. The family has suggested memorials for Vickie to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, with attention to Barry Winovich Endowed Chair for ALS Research, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44195; or to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410.
