Zelma Marie "Mickey" Walters, 85, of Danville, IL, passed away at 12:25 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born August 27, 1926 in Wellington, IL, to Hubert and Dorothy (Holt) Gossett. She married Robert W. "Bob" Walters on November 9, 1946 in Danville, IL. He survives in Danville.
Other survivors include: two sons, Tom Walters (Monica Bolton) of Danville, IL and Mike (Patty) Walters of Danville, IL. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jordan, Trey and Braden Walters and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Gene, Bill and Leon Gossett.

Mickey was married to her soul mate for 65 years and enjoyed time with her husband and their dog, Skipper. She loved children, whether her own, her grandchildren, friends, countless students she met through her years with District 118 or the hundreds of kids who played youth football during the time the Walters served as Franchise holders for the Tornadoes Football Team.

She was a lifelong Fighting Illini fan, especially basketball. Everything stopped when Illinois was on TV. "Mimi" always enjoyed watching Jordan, Trey and Braden play various sports, too.

She cherished her family and looked forward to celebrating birthdays and holidays together, and, of course, a warm summer evening playing cornhole. She never missed an opportunity to send a card to family or friends for special occasions. She set an example for us all with her selfless and generous heart. She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by all who have been blessed to know and love her.
