Cuyahoga Falls - Dorothy Louise Truitt Miller, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away March 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 23, 1926, in Sparta, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Everett and Myrtie Truitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Fender, Anne Gambill, Velma Truitt, Elizabeth Heard, brothers Parley Truitt and Foster Truitt, and her beloved husband, Carl, of 56 years. Surviving are her sister, Wanda Pardue, of Sparta, NC, and Dorothy's children, Elaine (Myron) Gray, of Munroe Falls, Carla Frazier, of Elk Grove, CA, and Anne (Richard) Stegman, of Greensburg, PA, grandchildren, Julie (Richard) Gulley, Debbie (Robert) Lisic, Christiana, Patricia and Louisa Stegman, and her great-grandchildren, Thomas Gulley, Jacob and Rachel Lisic and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy retired from MACtac with more than 20 years service. She also sold real estate with several offices throughout the area. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 281, the League of Women Voters and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Dorothy loved and treasured her husband and family above all else. She was a strong and determined wife, lovingly and tirelessly caring for our dad, Carl, through cancer. She was a loving and a generous mother, and an adoring and proud grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful nurses and aides of the Hampton Hills Unit at Traditions on Bath Road for their skilled and compassionate care of our beloved mother and grandmother. Additionally, The Visiting Nurse Service Hospice was also of invaluable help and instrumental in providing Dorothy and her family with additional support and care as she entered the final stage of her life. Friends may call at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral, 1930 Front St. from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 3rd. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:30 am at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44310, Rev Carl Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Arrangements handled by Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
