Julianne (Chesmel) Kirby, 90, of Windsor, loving wife of the late Eugene Owen Kirby, died peacefully on Thursday, (August 4, 2011) at St. Francis Hospital. Born January 12, 1921 in East Granby, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Zura) Chesmel. She was a resident of Windsor for 59 years. Julianne worked for several years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft before becoming a fulltime homemaker. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose focus was always on family. Her home was the center of many fondly remembered family gatherings. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel Church in Windsor, always faithful to the daily televised Mass and Rosary. She is survived by her children, Kathleen and her husband Richard Bosse of Suffield, Laura and her husband Miguel Silva of Suffield, John Kirby of Peabody, MA, William Kirby and his wife Susan of Windsor, and Janet and her husband Anthony Gentile of Boxford, MA; and her grandchildren, Colleen, Shannon, and Brendan Gentile, and Julie and Katherine Silva. She is also survived by her cousin, Ruth C. Stines; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Catherine T. Karstien and Mary Lloyd; a brother, John G. Chesmel; and a grandson, Patrick Silva. The family would like to thank Dr. Muzibul Chowdhury and his staff, along with the nursing staff of Unit 9-9 at St. Francis Hospital, for their attentive care.
