Richard Allen "Dick" Swope, 65, of rural Andrews, Indiana, died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash, Indiana. He was born February 11, 1947 in Kokomo, Indiana to Malen R. and Mary Eliza (Cunningham) Swope. Dick married Susie (Schultz) Mayo in Lagro, Indiana on September 1, 1997. He retired from General Tire/BTR in Wabash after 30 years. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 248, in Lagro. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to garage sales and antiquing. He is survived by wife, Susie Swope of Andrews; 3 children, Marissa (Eric) Wilson of Wabash, Richard Allen Swope II of Andrews, and Jakae Francis of Wabash; 3 step-children, Tanya Clark, Lewie Mayo, and Tommy Mayo, all of Andrews; 7 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, and 1 step great granddaughter; 3 sisters, Barbara (Steve) Sash and Marla (Steve) Alexander, both of Waunakee, Wisconsin, and Jolene (Kevin) Baer of Urbana, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Randall Webb officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Urbana. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is the Alzheimer's Association. The memorial guest book for Dick may be signed at www.grandstaff-hentgen.com.
