Euell Robert Barberousse, 94, a resident of Westminster-Canterbury on Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2012. A native of Louisiana, he served as a government inspector of power and explosives at an ammunition plant in Minden, LA, during World War II. After the war, he taught high school math and science and was an elementary school principal in Louisiana. He later served as assistant professor of education at Auburn University, where he had received his doctorate in education. He became principal of an elementary school in Montgomery County, MD, in 1967 and retired in 1978. He moved to Virginia Beach in 1983 and was an active member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church until he and his wife moved to Westminster-Canterbury in 1994. Preceding him in death was his wife of 70 years, Eleanor H. Barberousse, who died Dec. 30, 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Virginia B. Weirich and her husband Earl, of Chesapeake, VA; a grandson, Steven Colclough, of Hoover, AL; two great-grandsons, Drew and Harris Colclough, of Hoover, AL, and two sisters, Margie Stancil, of Austin, TX, and Mary Fuqua of Lafayette, LA. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Westminster-Canterbury Chapel on Shore Drive. Burial will be private.
