Rev. Douglas Raymond Nowlin, 57, a resident of Russellville, joined his Lord and Savior, Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock following complications from heart surgery last week.
He was born April 3, 1955, in Brinkley to John Dewey and Willene Deveral McGinnis Nowlin. He graduated from Brinkley High School in 1973 and soon began his career in the retail business at Fred's Dollar Store. Since then he has been a store manager of Wal-Mart stores in Paris, Dardanelle and Russellville. After 15 years with Wal-Mart, he left to manage the Cracker Barrel store in Russellville. Following many disabling illnesses that forced him to leave the retail business he resumed his studies in the Bible and earned his Master's degree in Theology from Clarion School of Ministry and was licensed to preach within the Assemblies of God. At the time of his death he was the pastor of Jamestown Assembly of God in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left here to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 24 years, Nancy Nowlin of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lyndsay and Andrew Simpson of London; a step-daughter, Heidi Watts Kassaw and her husband, Greg, of Russellville; a step-son, Michael Watts and his fiancée, Jaycee Linatok of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Charles Sexton of West Helena; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Carol Roberts of North Little Rock and Leon and Mona Nowlin of Carrolton, Texas; five grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Jace, Wyatt, Kaleb, Erin and Jacob; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Russellville First Assembly of God with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Simpson, Greg Kassaw, David Gaston, David L. Simpson, Steven Ward and Charles Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr Nowlin was by far the best mgr I ever worked for at wynne wal mart. He was a true Christian at work and away from work and he walked the walk that he talked. His faith has now become his sight and I Pray peace on the family during this time. This is not his goodbye, but a "see you soon"
