I have fond memories of Brother Gathany, at the North Birmingham Gospel Tabernacle while he was the pastor there. I was a about 12 years old when they came. I also shared his interest in Indian projectile points, and so enjoyed his trombone, which he played at services. The little church was heated by a kerosene furnace in the basement. I was 12 years old and had a paper route, and on Sunday's we started delivering papers about 3 in

I was just a youngster, my parents and grandparents attended the CM&A in Great Bend, I remember when the loan church burned down and the years the services were held in the storefront building. I remember the building of the new church, we kids would carry blocks and stone for the men laying the walls. My grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the basement of the church. The church picnics were so much fun for us kids. Rev. Gathany

I have known Leon Gathany all my life. My first memories of him were as the pastor of my home church in Great Bend, PA. At the young age of seven years, Leon prayed with me to accept the Lord Jesus into my life. When I was sixteen, he baptized me. I will always consider Leon as my spiritual father. As adults, my husband and I established a friendship with Leon and Rachel and have fond memories of our visits with them. They will be greatly missed. My condolences to Leon's children and extended family.

The Gathany family has meant so much to me and my wife over many years. We have followed the progress of the children, and have visited with Leon (and Rachael) many times. I took pride in being a fellow "Geezer" with Leon.

Leon Gathany was a good friend and I appreciated his stories of Alaska and of the ministry. He is certainly one of the great alums from Toccoa Falls College. He was always an encouragement to me. He will be missed.

I met Mr. Gathany in the 70's. He was kind then, and remained a very kind and gentle man. He allowed the love of Jesus to flow around and thru him. He shared a very touching testimony last September at the event honoring Mr. Prather at Gate Cottage. We have all been blessed by his life and his precious memory will forever be in our hearts. My sympathy to the family and many many friends. May the Lord continue to walk with you and give you comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Becky....I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. And, from what I read and from what you have told me about him, he was an incredible man who accomplished so many things in his lifetime and touched so many people's lives. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and to all who knew about him. Love, Barb
