As Time Marches On, I never knew how blessed I would be To have had a father who was always good to me. You taught me how to drive a nail, pitch a tent and to add How oft did I forget to say “Thank You, Dad�? From the Texas Gulf to Old Faithful in Yellowstone During summers we were never left alone. Rode coasters at Disneyland, saw presidents at Mt. Rushmore Wonderful sights we saw--10 Acre Rock and Grandpa's store. You always seemed to want the best for me But being young I often did not see I'm older and wiser now and for that I am glad But I wish I'd said more often “Thank You, Dad�. You let us hike down the Canyon where we saw the waves We climbed the Dunes, walked the Garden and explored dark caves Dropped rocks off the bridge on Route 64, saw gunfights in Red River Unselfishly and endlessly you were always to me a giver. I pray I follow in your steps, for your love you never hid It's plainly clear from the examples of all the things you did With honesty and integrity you lived and for that I am glad Because I owe so much to you, even now I whisper “Thank You, Dad�

MY FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below With tiny lights, like heaven’s stars, reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear, For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, But the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here. I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring, For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing. I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your heart, But I am not so far away. We really aren’t apart. So be happy for me dear ones. I watched it again today (in remembrance of 6 months) and cried at almost every picture. They are certainly a life time of memories and stories behind every picture in that video. Since I was going to Altus I decided to visit some of the places where your parents lived. I visited the swimming hole in Tishomingo, the high school in Coleman, (also saw the monument to the first baseball team), the cemetary in Enterprise, Bromide, Reagan, Ten Acre Rock and the Slab. I also stopped by Will Rogers Airport in Ok City to see where they have paid tribute to Uncle Garland. I have many many memories of us going to those places as we were growing up. ROGER DALE One thing I remember well was a trip that we took with Uncle Charlie, Aunt Leta Mae and the boys. I really can't remember WHERE we went (I was SOOOO young :-) ) but we all piled in Uncle Charlie's Wennibago and headed down the road. Daddy and Uncle Charlie would never stop to switch drivers. We would be going down the road at 55 and Daddy would slide in under Uncle Charlie while he was sliding out! SCARED me to death but it was a great vacation!! I also remember one family reunion we had out in Lubbock and there were several (about 8) of us cousins on their porch swing and we were swinging pretty high and the chains snapped and we flew. Uncle Charlie wasn't happy with all of us!!!

David and I spent about half an hour reminicing about Dad -the good times we had, the places he took us and the things he did for us. It was sweet to put the cares aside and to just think and talk about Dad. As the "Tenors" sang "I'm going to miss him, the old man". Love you Dad--HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Hi Roger, I don't know if you saw this posting from Sharon but I thought you would really appreciate it. You have probably heard this before but I sure got a chuckle out of it. I forgot to tell you guys that Rennie and I went to see Uncle Charlie while we were in Lubbock. He was pretty perky and told us a neat story: He said when he was living in Lubbock, he lived in a boarding house and worked construction (this must have been before he went in the service and before he worked in Borger because I remember them living down the street from us when I was about 5). He said there was a woman who cooked for them and she had a daughter that would come to the boarding house sometimes. Uncle Charlie said he turned to his friend and said, "I'm going to marry that girl." When he asked her out, the first thing she said was, "Do you go to church?" He said, " no, but I can start going". Uncle Charlie then got this big grin on his face and looked at me and Rennie and said, "and I've been going ever since." Sharon Kennedy Just wanted to share it with you! Hope you are doing well.
