R.I.P John - The Dreamer of Peace

I have the same b-day as John but I am only 56. I was called a dreamer as a child as I always talked of peace and why everyone in the world can't love each other. This was way before we all heard of the Beatles and John. When They came along I was fascinated by him and felt I was not the only one. When Imagine came out, I was blown away that there was another human being that felt as I did. I miss you John and hope to one day meet you in heaven.

I truly hope you know how much you are missed. Your wit, humor and great music. I remember as a child, I am 52 now, watching the Ed Sullivan show and screaming in my parents living room watching the show. It was great. Peace and Love be with you where ever you are now. I truly hope you can see all the people that love and adore you. Imagine Peace John

John was the Beatles' soul...and a lyrical master! His music changed my life, literally, by inspiring me to become a musician and to ultimately work within the music industry for the bulk of my life. I'll pass these talents and knowledge on to my children, and them to theirs. He not only effected those who were fortunate enough to be around during his life, but will continue to touch people as the effects of his music ripple forward in time - across the universe.

Just my own thoughts of one man giving the world all he had to offer. If we as individuals would do as much as - JOHN LENNON - IMAGINE - all the world could and would accomplish. 12/10/06. tiaraofdiamonds@yahoo.com

On a recent trip to Liverpool my husband and I visited The Beatles Museum on the docks. At the very end of this museum you have the opportunity to look thru John's eye glasses. My senses filled with so many emotions looking thru those glasses that it rendered me speechless. I like so many others was inspired by John's ability to say what he meant in a way everyone could understand. If you chose to. Those who had believed in the "dream." And despite our loss, Lennon continues to be a force that must be listened to. From the haunting lyrics and vocals of Imagine to the truthful, in your face, "Give Peace A Chance" Lennon was who I chose and continue to choose to say the things I feel in my heart and soul in a worldwide arena. Not only did we lose a "working class hero" we lost the voice of a generation. I have been a fan, believer and forever inspired since 1963. And We All Live On. Certainly John's music, words, and humanitarianism will. Imagine.

I was 13 when the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan. John quickly became my favorite Beatle. He and "the lads" changed the trajectory of my life. I had a passion. And to satisfy that passion, I acquired penpals, became a writer and editor of a Beatles newsletter, wrote short stories, organized a Beatles Convention. I often wonder if I would have known my skills if it hadn't been for them. In 1981, I actually gave birth to a fan who knows more about them than I do. What a bond we have! Forty-three years after they first came to America, I am still a huge fan. John, Paul, George, Ringo: their music, their interests and their influences, has withstood the test of time. I feel as though I had been wise enough to invest in gold back then, and to this day, I am still enjoying the riches.

I was just a kid when the Beatles arrived in America, but I will never forget their great debut on the Ed Sullivan show. Girls were screaming until they fainted in the aisles of the Ed Sullivan Theater. The four young men playing and singing their music on stage seemed a little strange to all of us. Their hair was longer than the popular style in America at the time and of course all of us guys wanted to be just like them. After all, they had stolen the hearts of every girl in America. Why wouldn't we want to be like them?

John Lennon was a great songwriter and lyricist. He had a lot to offer the world and he did just that. He gave us the strength to stand up for peace through his music. I think it is very sad that his life was taken from him and from us at such an early age. The man who shot him still lives, in my opinion that too is sad. Insane or not he knew what he was doing and I believe the entire incident was pre-meditated. The guy that pulled the trigger should die. (I don't blame you Yoko, I would not be able to forgive him either!)

Also, I would like to mention that this is not a forum to place derogatory remarks about Mr. Lennon. The rule applies: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!
