"A Thousand Days" was one of the first serious historical books I read. Schlesinger's excellent writing, coupled with the fact that there were parts of the story that I remembered, led me toward the history sections of many libraries and bookstores.
Thank you, Mr. Schlesinger, for the wonderful works that you leave behind. I imagine there are many people, like me, who came to better understand parts of our history because of you.
