I knew Randy when he was at the University of Virginia. I recall him as a very kind, approachable, and friendly person, who always had a smile on his face. I will never forget the time when my young daughter and I unexpectedly ran into him at the airport, and we sat together and talked while waiting for our planes. Randy was single and did not have kids, and yet he had the most amazing way with interacting with my daughter. She was very young and energetic, and was literally climbing all over him. Not only did he not seem to mind, but he was full of smiles and laughter, and made her feel very happy and special. Even then, one could see that he would be a fantastic dad some day. I was very saddened to learn that Randy has passed away. I am also very honored to have known one of the truly great men in this world, who has enriched so many lives, and has left behind such an amazing and inspiring legacy. I was both smiling and crying when I watched his Last Lecture on YouTube. My warmest wishes and deepest smypathy to his family. God bless you all.
