I had the pleasure of working with Sherm for four years at Ft Rucker AL, from 1969-1973. To the best of my knowledge, he never mentioned his flying exploits from WW II.

He was always quiet, smiling, and was spoken of by his student pilots, as a true professional.

I'm also very sure that Sherm is still flying today. He is missed by this fellow aviator.

I remember Uncle Sherman traveling to DC to visit my grandmother Natalie and taking loads of pictures. He is the true meaning of being proud and being African American in this country
