I'm about a year late getting here. A big influence on my life back in 1977. I'll always remember him opening the door of anthropology to me. I almost worked on a dig, but my art major kept me too busy to participate. Wish I had done it.

Dr. Phelps was an inspiring teacher, albeit an exacting one. He was a brilliant scientist and a very good person as well, he will be missed.
