How wonderful that he shared his gift of talent with us. I very much enjoyed the character that he brought into West Wing. Like my son, Austin Barthen, who passed away 3 1/2 yrs. ago, Ron Silver will always be in the hearts of those who loved him.

I have often thought of Ron and I knew him only for about a half a day. He made quite an impression on me way back when I was a shy, bumbling and aspiring broadcast promotion executive (some 30 years ago). While on "Rhoda," Ron came to visit the television station where I worked to promote the show. My boss Jack and I took him to lunch. We had a wonderful, funny lunch, filled with great conversation. At one point Ron handed me a compliment I've never forgotten. He told me he wanted to take my green eye's home with him. We had many "stars" come through the TV station--some good--some not so good. Ron stands out as absolutely one of the best, funniest and down-to-earth. Thank you, Ron, for the delightful comment to me and helping me to change my mind about "stars." I will treasure that one short, bright memory of him and feel lucky to have met him. I know if he made that much of an impression on me thirty years ago, he will certainly be missed greatly by those who knew him well.My sympathy to Ron's family and friends.

As a Native New Yorker, I will always remeber Ron, first on the corner of Pitt and Rivington, where he convinced me that attending Cooper Union as opposed to Philadelphia College was a better deal for me...it was. I didn't see him again until 10 years later at the National Endowement when Nany Hanks was chair...he actually remembered me. We talked about the need for expansion arts programs for all and he reminded me that he had to act...after all one has to eat. 10 years later again, we met in Madrid where he actually helped me withthe Spanish consulate for publishing distribution of bilingual programs for the ESL and bilingual aundiece back home. I hope I can, depite my successful profession, be able to also focus on the needs of others to fulfill their lives as well as mine...as he did. I know the Lord Almighty has alresdy blessed his soul, may it spill over to you all amidst your grief. Sincerely, Carlos F. Delgado

I remember him in so many parts, comedy and west wing, law and order etc, whenevr he appeared, it always seemed to me that he brought some kind of magic to the show. I am in the UK but I am sure that many who see that he has passed away will be deeply saddened. I wish his family well at this time. I tried to make a gift but it would not accept as I was in the UK. God bless Ron and thank you for so many years of your work.
