Dear Dr. Franklin!

I wrote to you many years ago, and you responded to my letter in less than two weeks. I still have the letter! May God bless you Dr. Franklin

Candle

Dr. Franklin, your light continues to shine so brightly. May your light continue to shine throughout the years through me for the rest of my natural life. You will be missed.

Dr. Franklin was an inspiration to humanity. I had the pleasure to meet with him several times. I have never met a more caring human. He will be missed greatly.

I moved to Richmond Va from IN in 1961 at the age of 9, with 5 siblings and parents. We were Catholic and "Yankees" and felt somewhat discriminated against as never before. As I grew up, I never understood the REAL discrimination against my new black friends. John Hope Franklin was someone I always wanted to meet. I wanted him to be my uncle, a man who could explain it all to me.
God Bless You.
