He was the best of the best, and was proud to serve his country. I'm grateful to have known him.

Lieut. Palmer came to my school West Side Middle School in Union City, Indiana to speak at our Veterans Day Program in November of 1999. He also spoke to my 8th Grade American History classes in the cafeteria about his service and the discrimination that he faced. I remember the day well. I felt like I had just met history. Several of my former students and former staff members (I retired in 2000.) have contacted me after reading about his passing.

I was very sorry to read of his passing but we all know that he is in a better place now where is no pain and suffering. I was so fortunate to have met him. I thank God for his life!
