I was diagnosed with Grid back in 1984 at the Gay Mens Health Crisis. Thats where I met Rodger. He had hair back then. I was a very angry person back then pissed off at the world. Rodger was a tall friendly face that I suspect was pretty angry and scared too. He gave me hugs when no one would touch me and I needed them. He helped wipe my tears and let me talk a little. Thanks for being a friend Rodger. I close my eyes and hug you back.Sorry you had so much pain and needed to escape. I understabd I so understand. You will be missed...Its sad that we are loseing all the pioneers of Aids.I'm glad I got to know you briefly in my life....you were a helpful touchstone....

I remember Roger in 1985 when we would address Social Workers on the issues of counseling people with HIV. He was very gentle and very real.

Rodger had an uncanny ability to cut to the heart of an issue with humor and candor. He served as an amazing advocate and activist. He will be missed.

My lasting memory of Rodger one that I'm sure the thousands of people he knew also have. He made me feel that I was his special friend and our time together was important. I'll miss creating new memories and have to live remembering the ones we've already created. Truly friend, Rest In Peace.
