Leland was always Archie to me. We were roommates and good friends during our time together at both Frederick Military Academy and Emery and Henry College. We had many good times together. My wife Louise also knew Archie well during those times when we were all so very young. I will miss him and think often of those good times. Please except our thoughts and prayers.

We just learned about Leland from Aunt Kay. We cannot tell you how heavy our hearts are at the distressing news. We knew Leland well enough to know that he was a wonderful man, a loving father, and a good friend. I met Leland in 1998 while I was the Executive Director of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Leland served as the Treasurer of our Board of Directors. He was one of the first people I met when moving to Virginia Beach and I have to admit one of the kindest and most genuine. I am reminded of him daily - as I have sitting on my desk a dish Leland gave me depicting one of his beautiful ducks. He will be

Donna, Noel, and family,
Leland and I went back to elementary school and even though I did not see him that much during our adult years he always has held a special place in my heart. He was a charming, witty soul and will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing him. I have a parent conference this afternoon so I will not be able to attend his memorial service but my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
