Saw him in person in Fayetteville N.C. I followed boxing close in early 70s. Alexis was one of the greatest boxer punchers of all time. The wars with Chacon, Mancini, and Olivaries, just to name a few, were classics. The Arron ( the hawk ) Pryor fights were unforgetable brawls... He was a great inspiration to many fans, a gentleman, and a great spokesman for the world of boxing. Alexis (The explosive thin man) Arguello REST IN PEACE... You will be missed Joe Baker Caneron N.C.

As a child growing up in Dublin, Ireland in the 1980's, watching Alexis Arguello's epic battles made me want to become a boxer. I hope he and his family know how much he inspired people the world over. His work with the FSLN in tirelessly striving to improve his country's hardship is also extremely admirable to not just Nicaraguans but also sympathizers around the world. Rest in Peace Alexis
