Memories & Candles
Love Family,
Col. Love (and your mother too) were such a part of my formative years - and my family's life - at Staunton Alliance. I remember him so fondly, and having recently lost my grandmother this summer, can empathize with both the sorrow of the loss here and the delight of knowing he's reunited with Mary. I wish you all peace and comfort and strength during this time. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

John, Tyler and I send our sincere sympathies to the family. To lose both parents so close is difficult. Your parents played a big part in my early years in the Valley, and your father was my assigned elder for years at SAC. They both helped me through a very difficult time and kept in touch, following up, after I moved to Chicago for training. I recently found a picture of my mother with yours. It was precious to see

I noticed your father on the same page as my father's listing. They are both being buried at Arlington cemetery, as they deserve. I just wanted to express my sincerest condolences to you all. Looks like we both had a war hero in the family!
Peace to you all.

Col. Love was so helpful to my father Jerry Heimer at Patriots Colony, acting as the rep for the US Army benefits org. And after he died, his support for my mother Betsy was at a critical time and so appreciated since I could not be there every day. His devotion and love for his wife was very evident to all of us who stayed at or visited Patriots Colony. A wonderful man who will be missed.

Colonel Love was Commandant of Cadets during my senior year at the Staunton Military Academy. I found him to be very kind and understanding with the ne'er do well young man I was. I will always remember him fondly.

My dad, Ken Mertel, lived at PC. I met Mary at a clothing show I did for her and her friends. Later when my dad died, Jim Love was a help to me in knowing all the people/agencies to contact. I was very impressed this morning reading the obit to find out that Jim was a believer. I'm hoping that he was able to share the Gospel with my dad before he died.
You all can be proud of your dad!

To Jim's Family,
I send my deepest sympathy and prayers for your family at this difficult time. I've only known Jim in this past year sitting in the same row each Sunday morning at the Chapel. He was always so happy to share his faith and his family. He is a blessing and must be rejoicing to be in the presence of His Lord and his dear wife. I'm sure they are all smiling down on you. I will miss seeing his smile and gentle and friendly spirit in my row at Church. God bless each of you.
