Stationed in SHAPE, Belgium, 1974/75. I was walking down the hall on the third floor. Gen Haig got off an elevator and turned in my direction. He said: 'Good Morning, Ross.' I had never been introduced to the man, I was a captain at the time. I was humbled that a man of his distinction and position would have taken the time to learn my face and name.
God bless him for his service.

AS ONE OF THE FIRST ENLISTED AIDES TO GEN HAIG IN 1973 WITH RANK OF S/SGT, TO HAVE THE GEN AND MRS HAIG ATTEND MY PROMOTION TO SGM AT SAME QUARTERS [#8] FORT MCNAIR IN 1985 GIVEN BY GEN ART BROWN. [VCSA] WE WILL MISS THE GEN.
