After being release from a 7 day sojourn in ICU,
I was referred to Dr. Fye at UCSF for further care of a rare condition.
At my appointments with him, crayons & sketchbook in hand,
Dr. Fye taught me what was going on, proposed a plan of
action - looked deep into my eyes and said, "We're going to figure out
exactly what's going on. Don't worry!"
That was the last time I saw him. I received the letter he
wrote to his patients about his cancer - and cried. I still cry
when I think of him being gone. He was an exceptional man!

I woke up today barely able to get out of bed, and thought of how much I miss Dr. Fye. Over the past year and a half I've been getting the run around from my new Rheumy, my PCP, and others on some very specific pain - each saying it's something else. Dr. Fye wouldn't have messed around this long, he would have ordered X-Rays after my second time complaining, then an MRI if he saw something amiss ... he

I just learned of Dr. Fye's passing and was deeply saddened that I never got to tell him how healthy I am and how well my life turned out. Ken took care of me for 14 years while I had lupus and pretty much saved my life. He was the most knowledgeable, caring, tenacious, confidence-inspiring, loving but firm doctor and I would not be alive and well today had he not worked tirelessly to help me. He was the one

Dr Fye was most amazing Dr I ever encountered! I was miss diagnosed with Lupus and Dr Fye got to the bottom of it and found out I had Hashimotos thyroid instead. A very hard diagnosis to detect! He keept a very close eye on me while both my pregnancies to make sure it wasn't Lupus. He had amazing bedside manners. He would ask me questions that I would never think to be revelant and little did I know. While

Dr Fye was my physician in Marin and I followed him back to UCSF when he switched. He was an astute brilliant physician who saved my life. I moved out of the bay area 10 years ago and unfortunately found out I was almost a year too late to thank him and tell him that my remission has continued. The remission was only achieved with his expert medical supervision. I will always regret not being able to share my happy news. I hope he was not in too much pain...he relieved so much pain in others..

Words cannot express my deepest sorrow in this difficult time of sadness of the loss of Dr. Fye. He was truly a wonderful, brilliant, caring doctor that went above and beyond to care for his patients. Many times he spoke of his beloved wife and family. Although Dr. Fye set the bar extremely high for himself to benefit his patients; his wife and family allowed him to give so very much of himself even to the end. I was told

Through the years, he continued to give his time, energy, and expertise to refer, follow through viewing me as a challenge not a problem patient. Problems were often and complicated. His vast array of knowledge, expertise, wisdom, caring, and common sense always prevailed. The 7:00am or 7:00pm phone calls were frequent. Dr. Fye was the upmost professional doctor that I treasure to say," He was my doctor." He made me a better patient and human being. A huge thank you

TO TARYN:
As I stated in Dr. Fye's Memory Book, I waited for Dr. Fye to begin his practice at UCSF. I saw him on his third day of his new practice and he began to change my life in ways I could never imagined. Ironically, I saw him the morning the day he received the grim news of his diagnosis. He was an amazing doctor, excellent listener while he was multi-tasking appropriatly during the consultations. During my last visit
