I think of Marie often.. She was a wonderful person and colleague. We miss her at BMC I still have not been able to see another dermatologist it just doesn't feel right. God Bless her husband and children.

I met Marie-France when I was going to graduate school in Boston in 1996. She welcomed me with open arms and included me in her circle of friends when she had them over for dinner. I offer my condolences to the family. I am sorry, I just found out about Marie-France's passing today. She was a blessing to so many people and we are all very fortunate to have known her. I learned of Marie's passing today. I am shocked and deeply saddened. I have been a patient of hers for 10 years and she was not only a great doctor, but a very sweet woman. During every appointment, no matter how busy she was, she always found the time to ask me how my son was doing and, in turn, she spoke very highly of her children and family. I could tell she was proud. My most heartful condolences go out to her husband, children and family. The world has lost a wonderful human being.

I think about Marie-France every day since this tragedy. I only met Marie-France and Maurizio a few months ago at a party. I remember leaving the party and talking about this beautiful couple with my husband, how nice they are, how well she dances, how caring she was. More than a month has passed since this tragedy, and I read this page every day and think about her and the pain and suffering her family is going through. Maurizio, it's hard to read the notes you posted on this page without chocking. We think about you and your beautiful children. We are so proud to be your circle of friends and support you to go through this extremely difficult time. We all miss you so much Marie-France.

I met her on an elevator at McGill while she was in pre-Med. All it took was a smile. We became good friends for several years and she tried many times to match me up with her friends. I was her biggest fan, cheering her while playing for her women’s medical hockey team at McGill University or encouraging her professional

Marie-France had this unique gift of being a talented physician and teacher as well as a caring and loving mother.

I met her on an elevator at McGill while she was in pre-Med. All it took was a smile. We became good friends for several years and she tried many times to match me up with her friends. I was her biggest fan, cheering her while playing for her women’s medical hockey team at McGill University or encouraging her professional career. When she was offered the position of Director of the Skin Oncology program at Boston University we went for a long walk in Outremont where we lived. We discussed it through but she would not accept the position unless I was completely in favor. Leaving Montreal meant leaving her family and friends, which meant so much to her. She loved Montreal, and it was a very difficult decision to leave.

Francoise was born in Boston soon after we arrived there. During our stay in Boston we often commuted to Montreal to visit family and friends here. Our kids were used to make the commute between Boston and Montreal without any problem and a little preparation on the part of Marie-France.

She kept a diary for our two kids Francoise and Christian. On the first page of Francoise’s diary she wrote: “Francoise tu es comme une fleur qui fleurit dans mon jardin qu’il faut que j’arrose”.

Marie-France exuded so much energy that there was never a dull moment in our life. Always visiting friends and family and exciting places around the world like exploring the Drakensburg mountain range in South Africa or the Melbourne coast in Australia or cycling in Holland or strolling in Riccione, or preparing the annual Swiss fondue for our Quincy neighbors and friends.

But what I will miss the most about Marie-France is the simple things. She would leave me post-it notes on the kitchen counter to remind me that I needed to give a bath to the kids while she was away on a 2-day conference or write me a list of food items I needed to purchase in the evening for our dinner together. Just before she passed away she whispered to me that I needed to take care of Francoise’s lunch since it was a Tuesday and Francoise’s had to bring her own lunch on Tuesdays.

I would cherish the little walks on the beach at sunset, the wine tastings at the local wine shop, the occasional outing at a restaurant featuring international cuisine. Looking at me with beautiful brown eyes, wanting me to join her on the dance floor, hosting dinners at our home in Quincy for neighbors and friends, buying little presents and always remembering people’s birthdays.

She did not care much about things. She would say to me that she needed a new suit but ended up buying something for me or our kids instead. Her motto was Live, Laugh and Love….The important things in life are not things.

Marie-France, we will miss you very much!

We had the opportunity to get to know her when she briefly stayed with us when she visited Johns Hopkins as a guest lecturer. I also worked with her on a research project that concerned the pathogenesis of pruritus. What a pleasant intelligent woman whose untimely passing will be sorely missed by her family and by the academic dermatology community

Every time I saw her she would have a special gift, share her lunch, bring me cookies, and in turn I got to know her favoriite biscotti! I loved making them for her and she made me feel as though it was the best cookie she ever tasted! More than anything else I will never forget her love of her family, Maurizio, Francoise, Christian, they were her life. I never saw anyone light up like she did when she spoke of everyday experiences with them. Winny, how grateful I am to have met you. Such a gift in having her for you daughter. My entire prospective on life has changed. MFD made me realize how much joy there is in life and how we can never take anything for granted. She gave me just the last time I saw her, her favorite candies in the whole world! How I cherish them! I will miss her yet I will never forget her! My heartfelt thoughts are with her family every day. I cannot imagine what we are to learn from this, but I do know my life was touched forever by an angel.
