Jeanne L. Kinley

I have so many precious memories of this wonderful lady - her smile, her laughter.

She was so patient with me. My short, stubby (and clumsy) fingers did not have the grace a true pianist should have. She taught me Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and so many others. I remember in those early lessons the duets. Her fingers seemed to be dancing, while I tried to keep my fingers arched and striking with equal pressure one of the three or four

She was so patient with me. My short, stubby (and clumsy) fingers did not have the grace a true pianist should have. She taught me Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and so many others. I remember in those early lessons the duets. Her fingers seemed to be dancing, while I tried to keep my fingers arched and striking with equal pressure one of the three or four notes from the primary lessons. Later, she made it seem perfectly fine that I needed an extra week (or more) to master a song. I remember how proud she was when I learned to play her favorite hymn "Sweet Hour of Prayer". I still have some of my lesson slips. She helped me to realize a childhood dream of playing the piano.

She taught me how to crochet. Starting with a simple chain, which then turned into a lesson on how to make "Granny Squares", she eventually coached me through a blanket for my dolls. A blanket that she began and then handed over to me after four neat rows had been formed. (I still have the blanket.) The needlepoint techniques, which she taught me, I later used on a blanket for my nephew.

When my students read a story about the Great Depression, I tell them the story she told me. How a man, holding a small can of paint and a small brush, had come to the door and asked if he could paint the house number on the steps for some food or some spare change. Even though the numbers really did not need repainting, the family allowed him to do it and then gave him both a sandwich and some money. (I can never remember if it was a nickel or a dime. The amount seemed so small, yet so great.)

I remember the cat, Chessie (named after the railroad). I remember how she cared for her father (He was usually still asleep during my Saturday morning lessons).

Her house was a living museum. She was a curator of life. I used to marvel at all the things she had done, yet here she was in Ironton. As a teenager, I was determined to get away and stay away. She was an example that in order to have a great life one only needed to have a positive attitude, be willing to work hard and to try something new. For example, when she couldn't have a piano, she taught herself how to play the accordion.

I remember when she played the baby grand piano for me. I remember when she would play the upright piano. (She would play the new lesson's songs.) She was so talented.

This great lady will be greatly missed.

to the family of jeanne kinley. jeanne was a wonderful and compassionate lady. she was a lady that once you met her she was a part of your life. my family lived on sixth street around the corner from her. when my mom was alive jeanne would walk around to my house to visit my mom. on my moms birthday she would send a card and bring her a present. she made my mom's day. god's got an angel with him in heaven and someday i will see her again. to the family i send my prayers to you.

Ms. Kinley was one of those rare individuals whose vibrance, generosity and pure love allowed us to glimpse the greatness of God.

She taught me how to play the piano, how to crochet and neddlepoint. She told me stories of her life and of her parents' lives. (Because of her stories about Heidelberg College, I applied to the school. My experiences and degree from HC opened countless doors and windows of opportunity.) She reinforced my family's values. We shared our love

We shared our love of language and reading. (I remember once she was reading the Bible in Spanish. She had already read it in Latin and English.)

I will always remember her, her laughter and her joy in living, loving and learning.

Rest in peace my precious aunt. You have meant the world to me and countless others. Such a positive attitude has been felt by many people and been a real inspiration . How glad I am I got to spend as much time with you as I did. I will miss you greatly and loved you dearly

For the last few years, we have enjoyed corresponding via snail mail and week before last was the most recent letter I received from her. Since she was always very prompt in her replies, I knew something was amiss since the only time her

Please know I will always have the highest regard for her and remember her fondly. She was a fabulous lady in every sense of the word!

Aunt Mabel, Jeanne's mother, was my father's oldest sister, whom he loved dearly. Due due the differences in our ages and where we lived, we missed seeing each other face to face. However, through our love for God and our Christian beliefs, Jeanne and I formed a wonderful bond. I will miss her cheery notes of encouragement and understanding. I just want to send my deepest sympathys to your family. My father was Don Brown, Madalyn's brother-in-law. Your family will be in my prayers and I'm sorry for your loss of such a wonderful lady.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Barbara, and your family in the loss of your lovely Aunt Jeanne. Jeanne played the Piano in our Wedding almost 22 years ago, and has been a very special friend for years. Jim was with her in Aug. after she fell and had broken her hip, he was picking her up to take her to the funeral home for my Dad's visitation. He went to King's Daughters and was with her in the E.R.
