I was sad to just learn of Mr. MacRae's passing. We met when he came to visit the Air Force Academy in 2005 and had conversed via email off and on since then. He is one of those people you meet for a short time but who has a lasting impact on your life. He truly was a great man and a good friend, always taking interest in my career and life. He is a great example of service and patriotism. He will be missed. Capt. Jason Clayton

I was blessed to know George MacRae as a mentor and a friend who offered me his encouragement and support. He will be missed. I will honor George’s memory by carrying on his efforts to document and preserve the history of the U.S. Marine Raiders. Semper Fidelis, Cpl. MacRae. Rest in peace…

We are so lucky to have shared time with George and Gloria here in Cape Breton over the years. As one of the "elder statesmen" of Mom's MacRae family, his exceptional vigour and enthusiasm for life were an inspiration. His passion for his military family, his keen interest and caring for his family of relatives and his courageous spirit (not to mention a pretty neat sense of humour) are only a few reasons why we loved him, and will miss him - a rest so deserved ...

While I have only had the pleasure of knowing George for a short while in the grand scheme of things, I have known many other men cut from the same cloth during my lifetime and they are truly our greatest generation. They are my heroes and they have left giant footprints in all our lives. The legacy of the Raiders will live on forever, but George's legacy goes much beyond that, as big a part of his life as that

I'll remember George as a unique relative with whom I shared our athletic experiences. He is a perfect example of someone who followed his passions and lived life to the fullest. We could all take a chapter from that book!

George was a great man, kind, gentle, smart, strong and a warrior with honor.
I was blessed to have him as my room mate last year when 4 of the Raiders and a few others like me (the son of Raider Dan Marsh) got to tour China.
I'll never forget those two weeks, or my friend George!
God bless you brother, and may the Spirit of God comfort his friends and family!
