Agnes Irene Numer

Our lives are a “linear highway” – point alpha to point omega.

As we travel – we have “fill-ups” that propel us towards our destination.

Each “fill-up” modifies us – defines us – directs us.

My “early 90’s fill-up” was at an oasis called “Somer Haven”.

From “Captains of Industry” to “long lost cousins” to “Continental Leaders”, defining/transforming associations not only “lit my path”, but also helped resolve it.

As an embryo develops in the womb (an embryo of the “new creation through Christ”), the

As an embryo develops in the womb (an embryo of the “new creation through Christ”), the comfort and security of a “womb” known as “Somer Haven”, must “birth” most of those who come to it.

A secular analogy?
“The Sound of Music”: Mother Superior to Julie Andrews:
“ … these walls were not meant to shut out problems. You have to face them. You have to live the life you were born to live … “

A more extreme secular example comes from the 1984 movie: “Sixteen Candles”. In that movie there is a famous high school dance scene. No, not a scene involving Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, nor John Cusack – but rather a father and mother dragging their young outcast son (kicking and literally screaming) to the front door, shoving him through, then locking him in the gymnasium. His memorable words shouted to his parents? “I want to stay with you guys!”.

I guess my “Somer Haven” experience was a hybrid example of those two movie scenes.

Anyone who has come to that “cross roads” in their life – and resolved the dilemma while staying at “Somer Haven” - knows exactly what I’m saying when it came to that time when Agnes had that “just baked cookies moment” with you in her little sanctuary.

As you went back out into the living room – pondering her words while the parrot nibbled at your ear (if you were lucky it was only a nibble and there was no blood loss) – you knew your life would NEVER be the same – the future was scary – but, somehow, you knew it was going to be ok.

Question: “Who led the most people to the Lord?”,

Possible answers?: “Agnes Numer”? or, “the person who led Agnes Numer to the Lord”?

The answer involves “exponential spirituality”.

The result is “summed up” in a song – “Thank you for giving to the Lord”.

There are, and will be, untold thousands who meet Agnes Numer in Heaven. In a time when “all things will be known”, those who met Agnes, and those who met Christians refined because of Agnes, will be, likewise, singing the stanzas:

Thank you for giving to the Lord –
One by one they came
Far as your eyes could see
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity
Little things that you had done
Sacrifices you made
Some were unnoticed on the earth
In heaven now proclaimed

At the risk of sounding trite:
“Thank you Lord for Agnes Numer”.

Where could I possibly begin to briefly share about Agnes and our relationship in the Lord. Agnes was a spiritual mentor, a dearly loved friend, and so much more.

In 1987 as I was first appointed as a Pastor with Foursquare. I had been praying for direction and a vision for the ministry. I felt led to read Isaiah 58. I was instantly inspired to action but I had no idea what that really entailed. So, the ministry didn't take

In 1987 as I was first appointed as a Pastor with Foursquare. I had been praying for direction and a vision for the ministry. I felt led to read Isaiah 58. I was instantly inspired to action but I had no idea what that really entailed. So, the ministry didn't take any solid root or direction for 5 years.

In 1992 my wife informed me that she had just met a woman who was unlike anyone she had ever known and that I needed to meet her. In the middle of nowhere-in the desert, into a little house where in a recliner sat a tiny white haired woman smiling, laughing, praying, and encouraging everyone who approached her. On the ceiling was a wooden banner reading Isaiah 58. Agnes taught me the fullness of what God desired to do through men and women and my life has never been the same.

Thank you dear Agnes.

Peace to all! The most wonderful thing that happened in my life is when I met "Agnes" in 1982. It was from that point to my initial experience and arrival to Sommer Haven Ranch on April 04, 1984. This is when it all began to sit at the feet of God's most precious servant that I have ever met. To be taught of the Lord through her. Well I am one of her spirtital children and I have been taught of the Lord and no matter what comes I always have the peace of the Lord! Thank you Agnes and I truly thank the Lord for His vision that He has given you. The work shall continue as the Lord allows His Wheel's to go in motion. She will be missed but, I have great memories, stories, and vision.

All should be encouraged she won!

Through the journey of life, we encounter key servants that are specifically put on our path for one reason - to bring us closer to Him. At times we might not see the message as clear, but as we continue it takes shape in the marvelous tapestry that God molds, shapes and weaves us into to be part of Him. Agnes is one of the special servants that gave so much of herself to others, her unselfish caring ways for

He lives and His Spirit lives on His children that received and heed His call.
We are left with wonderful and inspiring memories of a life that knew her calling and answered, embraced and until the last breath lived it.
Agnes you would always remain in my heart as you had all these years and I treasure your Isaiah 58 teachings. Will never forget your smile.

Soon my husband became a Christian and God blessed us with 3 children that have always had the priviledge to call
her "grandma". Because of her teaching in person as well as recordings, and works done in me,

I loved just being in her presence as the Holy Spirit's love and warmth could always be felt. As she was with me, Agnes was a teacer, Spiritual trainer, physical trainer, advisor and was available for prayer or ministering 24-7 to many many people. Patience waas only one of the virtues of the Holy Spirit Agnes possesed.
No job was to small, no person left behind, nor was any need left undone with you at the helm. I know God has your crown filled with jewels waiting for you. I will always remember the essence of the traing; "to be naturally Spiritual and Spiritual natural". Thank you Agnes.

i didnt know agnes personally but i talk many times with her over the phone she brought so much comfort & healing when i really needed it she had so much love for people i just lost my mother in oct of 2009 she was a strong christian she was always talking about agnes back when they use to have camp meetings in heartbutte mt. yeah my moms just loved agnes & her ministry yeah i really wanted to go

It was mine and Richard's and my son's Ryan and Jared's sheer delight and honor to have known this beautiful Godly woman. I will always remember her gentle way of listening, talking and praying for me and my family whenever I would need her. It was truly our blessing to have had her in ourhome in New York and to have visited her(and be baptized) at her home in California. The program was well received by the people in the reservation. People came to the mission voluntarily and assisted in the distribution of food and were trained to identify, disperse, store and inventory the food items received. Groups also went out to local farms in the Yuma and Imperial Valley to glean the

Groups also went out to local farms in the Yuma and Imperial Valley to glean the crops. This taught our people to associate with people of other races and gave them social skills which helped them find jobs in the community. They also learned about the work of the Lord by attending the prayer and church services. A tutoring program was also started for the local youth, all grade levels, but mostly for elementary and junior high students.
Their time spent on the reservation was two and a half years. This was an exciting time for the Methodist Mission and our community. There was an increase in church membership, people were finding jobs and keeping their jobs and there was improvement in the children's education. Teachers from the local school were surprised at the growth, both academically and socially, the children made through the tutoring program.
All the little children called Agnes "Grandma"; she had a way with people of all ages.
Agnes was a guiding light to many people in many countries. Whenever she heard of a need, she would find a way to help.
There are not too many people like Agnes; people who are honest, caring and humble. I will always remember her happy laugh and the smile that was always on her face.
Agnes loved the Lord with all her heart and now she has gone home to be with the Lord.

Agnes taught me truth. She taught me to walk in the light. She taught me to obey Him. She taught me to be crucified with Christ. These are the keys of the Kingdom of God and of Wisdom, and, they lead to Life. Blessed are those who find them. The words of life live on in my heart and produce fruit through me as they also produced fruit through my spiritual mom and flowed through her. Thank you Jesus that
