When I was in 6th grade I got the opportunity to attend Gaurd Camp at Camp Ripley.  Cory was my counselor for the Fighting Falcons!  I can still hear him shouting as we marched in cadence to breakfast...I got the chance to visit with him recently, it had been about 17 years since Guard Camp and he still remembered me and gave me a great big hug!  He will be greatly missed.

Our sympathy and friendship to Cory's family. We know Stacy & Brady from when we lived in Bemidji and got to know Cory here in Ottertail as he was the school bus driver. He would stop at the local gas staion where Karri works and we would exchange notes on Stacy, Brady, Derrick and our son Josh. Then we would talk "grandbabies" and Cory's face would "light up"! It's always hard to lose someone you love but God has other plans for us. Take care.

Cory was the coolest bus driver-he did some very neat things on his route. My son Tucker transferred to Perham schools after Thanksgiving and Cory was his driver. I know Tucker really respected him, and Cory went out of his way to make sure Tucker felt welcome and let him know that he was appreciative of his dad's service. Cory knew that our son was struggling with his dad being in Iraq with the guards, and made sure he told Tucker to pass on his thanks! We are sure going to miss him. Our hearts are with the family!

I have known Cory for many years - we went to the same country church and were in confirmation at the same time. He was always so kind and genuine. The last time I saw him - he was at the school in Clearbrook speaking to the high school kids about the Guard. He had a quick smile and a hug for a friend - I'm sure he will be greatly missed by his family and all of the people

Sergeant Orvik, (which I will always remember him by) was a true patriot.  You could not find a person who truly cared about taking pride in being an American.  What I can remember when I was being recruited was that he was a good talker and listener and made you feel comfortable.  He really cared that you were going to be a apart of the National Guard family.  Sergeant Orvik you will be missed.
