La Nelva Weempe

WEEMPE, LA NELVA Nell Weempe passed away at home on December 24, 2010. Born La Nelva Durrett to Joel Andrew Durret and Annie Mae Thronton on February 3, 1931, in O’Donnell Texas. She was raised and educated in Whitehouse, Texas. Nell lived a vibrant and colorful life, but for the past ten years she has fought valiantly with COPD. Nell spent most of her life in Dallas close to family and friends. She was known mostly for her style, beauty, and wonderful cooking. Additionally, Nell was a woman of strong faith and a long time member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church. She will be remembered lovingly as a woman with huge personality who fearlessly spoke her mind when others could not.

Nell is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Sam G. Weempe, her daughter Debra Boerder and son Donald Weempe, their respective spouses Larry Boerder and Jane Weempe; grandchildren Natalie Boerder, Andrew Boerder, and Elsbeth Weempe; a beloved sister-in-law Margaret Cobb; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend Candy Harper. Nell is preceded in death by her parents and all twelve of her siblings.

The family would like to thank her devoted physicians and staff of Drs. Joyce Hohn and Patrick Daly. Many thanks also go to the loving and tender care provided by Denise Kirk, Kesha Ware, and Delvina Roberts, VNA, Hospice, and Methodist Wound Clinic. Pallbearers will be Greg Gianake, John Pickartz, James Morgan, Andrew Boerder, Jack Hodges, and Paul Ledbetter.

The family will welcome friends at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas Tx, 75243, Wildwood Chapel, on Monday with visitation at 2:30 and Service at 3:00.
