Mrs. Wanda Golden Sypulski

Wanda Phyllis Sypulski (nee Golden)
Age 87, of Lowell, died peacefully Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Born in the Harbor section of East Chicago in 1924, she was a long-time resident of Fort Myers, Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester B. Sypulski, her parents, Felix and Mary Golden, and brother Arthur Golden. She is survived by daughters, Pamela M. (Edward) Hardesty of Lowell and Sybil F. (Shawn) Neal of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and son, Jamie Golden Sypulski of Chicago, Illinois, three grandchildren, Edward L. (Christi) Hardesty, Jr., Jaime Lynn Hardesty and Abigail Rae Bartz, and three great-grandchildren, Hillary Hardesty, Jacob Hardesty, and Dejai Bartz. She is also survived by two sisters, Edna Pudlow, of Tallahassee, Florida, and Renette Ivko, of Sarasota, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Wanda was a registered nurse for 45 years, and was known by her many patients as a loving and devoted caregiver. After completing three years of nurses training at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago in 1945, Wanda worked as a nurse at St. Catherine and later at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point. Later in her career she worked as Nursing Coordinator of St. Anthony's Nursing Home, from which she retired in 1987. Wanda continued her service in retirement, working as a volunteer nurse in hospitals in Fort Myers, Florida. Wanda was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Lowell. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Monday, August 15, at 11 a.m., at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Ted Norquist officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, August 14, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E.
