I had the pleasure of receiving sound advice from Pat while I struggled with domestic violence when I lived in Media, PA. She helped me see myself as a person of worth. Her forward in my book now takes on a very special and deep meaning. I am so sorry for your loss that occurred nearly two years ago. It is very fresh for me since I just received word of her passing today, March 31, 2013. My deepest sympathies to you. From Lawanna Campbell

Pat--you will be missed. Thanks for your work with kids and families. You will be missed!

Please accept my condolences on Pat's passing. I worked with Pat for many years on many Delaware County children's committees and always found her to be gracious, informed, and truly focused on the needs of our families and children. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

It was always a pleasure working with Pat on the Delaware County Children's Cabinet. She will be missed by many. Sending her family our thoughts and prayers during the holidays.

Pat was my very first supervisor after I finished my social work degree. She taught me so much about social work as a field of compassion and caring for the vulnerable, disenfranchised and oppressed. At a time when working with HIV-infected people was often scorned, she inspired me to be the best social worker I could be in whatever capacity I worked with clients.

We shared a love for cats...I hope your kitties are curled up in your lap, Pat.

Love, Brent

I truly enjoyed working with Pat for almost 10 years at Family and Community Service. She was a great mentor, very patient and compassionate, and very dedicated to her work. Her passing is a great loss. Wishing her family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

To the family and friends of Pat Lavin:

Since I heard of Pat's diagnosis, I have been praying for her and for you. I am a cancer survivor and shared Pat's suffering. The greatest consolation is that she is now with the Lord and not suffering.

Sincerely,
Sister Mary Ellen Gemmell, CSFN
