JACOB WILLIAM "BILL" PHELPS On January 30, 2012, Bill joined his wife, Betty (Rayner) Phelps in Heaven. They were married for 69 years. Bill was born in Caldwell, Ohio on October 15, 1921 to Jacob and Alice Phelps. He was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church for over 60 years. At Dueber, he served on the Administrative Board and Trustee and Building Administrative Committee for the remodeling of the sanctuary. He worked at Hercules Engines for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2011, infant brother Phillip, brother James Enoch, sisters Phoebe, Ruby, and Ruth Ann , brothers-in-law Shine Rayner and Don Thompson, sister-in-law Nellie and daughter-in-law, Darla Phelps in 2010 . He is survived by his 4 children: Patty (Bob) Harris, Bill Phelps, Connie (Ron) Bates, Paul (Sybil) Phelps; 2 sisters Pearl Egnot and Clara Gadd; sister-in-law Evelyn Rayner; grandchildren: Pam Rentz (Lance), David (Maribel) Fehn, Jeff (Carla) Phelps, David (Kelly) Bates, Amy (Phillip) Hochstetler, Beth Bates, Keith (Jerilynn) Phelps, D.J.(Kelly) Long, Jason (Amanda) Long, Jill Harris, Don (Brenda) Harris; great-grandchildren, Zachary Holman, Pablo Lazu, Isaac and Abel Fehn, Nicholas Phelps, Sarah and Sydney Bates, Macy Renee, Mandi and Maggie Hochstetler, Taylar Long, Kristina and Angeline Harris; nieces, nephews and many close friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel and one hour before services on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. His celebration of life will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Dueber United Methodist Church, 645 Dueber Ave. SW, Canton, Ohio 44706. His Pastor, Dr. Chester Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dueber United Methodist Church.
