Memories & Candles
To the Main family
I am deeply saddened at learning that Vernon passed away. It was so very long ago and we had lost touch over the years, but I will always remember Vernon and all the many lessons he taught me. He always gave from the heart. Beverly and I will never forget him. I pray that Christ will comfort your hearts.

I so much enjoyed getting to know Vernon over the years of our 9:30 Mass at St Patrick's coffee klatch at PJ's. I loved his wit and his stories and feel privileged to have been able to call him friend.
Also, I feel fortunate to be able to help bring his story of The Royce Raid into a publishable form.

Dear Main Family,
My prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Too Too, I have great memories of your dad flying me in his Stearman...so much fun. God's love and peace to you all.

Every famoly should have a brother with the inner qualities and character of Vernon, known to me as "Jug". He was my best friend and my brother. Jug and I will meet and fly again in the future.
My condolences, love, and deepest sympathy to Mary Lou and the family.
My prayers are with you Jug.

Sure sorry to hear about Vernon's passing. He was a great Stearman friend & a Stearman enthusiast & a man of great integrity who we were proud to call a friend. He & his other Stearman friends from the New Orleans area were great stalwarts at the National Stearman Fly In at Galesburg, IL for many years & we had many great flying experiences & good times together. We will miss him greatly & fondly remember our friendship of many, many years. Our sincere condolences to Mary Lou & family.

I did not know Mr. Main but I know other men like him, my Dad and my Uncles. They are truly great men who are worthy of our admiration. What they gave for our country and all of us is remarkable and could never be repaid. All I know is with the loss of each one of them, we are loosing someone who will be greatly missed not only by their family but by all of us.

Vernon was a member of our little coffee klatch that met every Sunday after 9:30 Mass at St. Patrick's. He used to regale us with stories of his time in the military especially his participation of the Royce Raid in the Pacific.
He was a great person, a great friend and he will be sorely missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss and know that Mr. Main will be deeply missed. If a man's legacy can be tied to the sucess of his children, then feel proud that this man helped to raise a wonderful family of wonderful people.
