Somehow the dear guy figured out how to reach out and give hope and encouragement even after his passing. I was diagnosed in August with a very aggressive lymphoma while I was just halfway through pregnancy with our son. Things were so progressed that I needed to start chemo immediately while pregnant. The worry was overwhelming- but the Lord and dear friends&family have kept us hopeful- and even people we've never met like Dave! Our friends in Saginaw had a benefit dinner and we were so blessed to get Dave's generous gift. On November 13th our son was born and has been doing great. Hopefully with a few more outpatient treatments both baby and I will be completely healthy for years to come! Our great hope is that we might be able to bless and support others throughout our lives just as you have done for us. Thanks friends&family of David! Dave was a hard working man who would do anything you asked. I am glad that I had the opportunity to have a bud light with him in his pole barn one summer night watching him and his friends play cards and just enjoy life. He will truly be missed and never forgotten.

As yesterday came to an end, Carter and I were saying goodbye for the last time to Dave. We listened to Dylan's Knockin on Heavens Door in the back room and went to the casket one more time. Carter said "Goodbye Dave, we'll see you later". He then looked at me and said "Dave is sleeping and when he wakes up tomorrow the Sun will be in his eyes". Dave is sleeping and when he wakes up tomorrow the Son will be in his eyes.

Dave came into my life as my neighbor, and as years went by he turned into family.
He was the very best friend my dad could have ever asked for and I am grateful for the bond they shared. I pray that when I am older I will have a friendship as strong as theirs. He treated Carter with all the love and kindness a flesh and blood grandpa would have had for their grandchild. I will forever be in debt

I will forever be in debt to Dave for playing such an everlasting role in the lives of my loved ones, in addition to my own.
Dave was genuinely kind. Just to give an example of the kind of guy Dave was, Not even a month after leaving the hospital after his original diagnosis- as weak as he was he found the time to go to the store and and pick out candy and an Easter gift for Carter. He snuck it into the house like the Easter bunny and left it on the table before any of us were awake.
So today I said goodbye to the strongest man I've ever known-Just like my Dad said "If it could be done, Dave could do it." he fought and fought until the very end. harder than any of us could even imagine. He taught me that simply giving up was never an option and I believe having him in our lives made us all stronger people who are more aware of how important the little things in life truly are.
I couldn't have dreamed of a better guardian angel to look after my son than Dave. The time they spent together was precious. From fishing trips at the club to babysitting, Dave was always there. He was incredibly smart, even more unselfish and most importantly had a heart filled with enough love and generosity that the world became a little colder the day he left us. I hope we all find comfort in our memories of Dave and knowing that he no longer has any stress or pain. There is nothing I can say to express how fortunate I feel to have had the opportunity to have him be a part of my life as well as my families.

If love could have saved Dave- He would have lived forever.............

I work at the Midland Home Depot and worked directly with Dave when he did our door installs. Dave was an excellent door installer and served the Customers well. In my last conversation with him, he was still optimistic about life. I have very fond memories of working with him.

As we all know that Dave was a very loving, caring, and generous young man that would help out everyone that asked, for he had done for so many of us all, and never asked for anything in return but a thank you! His talents and knowledge that was also grand, made him a top notch in my eyes. A true gentleman and dear friend is how I will always remember Dave. We will meet again in time, save me a spot hon.

A celebration of Dave's life will take place in the Huron National Forest of Michigan Upper Peninsula in September of 2012.

Our sympathy is with you this day and always. Dave was our best man in our wedding. He was a very caring man and I thank God he is heavens with his maker. Sadly missed and will never be forgotten.

dear brother we very sincerely grieve your loss but yet praise the fact there is no more pain can close our eyes and see you with sis neomi and mom sittin on the shore of the beach and rejoicing in the fact you are now home with them save us a spot in the sand and watch over us from the gates of heaven till we meet again remember we love ya brother and your loss will surely be missed
