Dear Kim, Kent, Katie, and Kerry...Still keeping you all close to my heart, remembering Jake. Elizabeth and I were talking on the way to meet her mother, Ann, 2 weeks ago. We were recalling the last time I saw Jake, which was in Plain City, at our home, last spring. It was May, and Jake and Elizabeth had come to celebrate some birthdays and a graduation with our family. Later in the day, some of the musicians in our family, went downstairs to the basement, to practice a song together. My partner, Felicia, was on keyboards, brother-in-law, Chuck, on guitar, and niece Sarah's boyfriend, Mike, also on guitar. Me....the novice drummer! We called the family downstairs when we were ready, and played the old song "Last Kiss" (the Pearl Jam updated version), that I had recently played with a friend's band at a Moose Lodge. How could we know this song, the first song I learned on my drums, would carry so much meaning now? I saw Elizabeth and Jake standing close by, and Jake had this look on his face...like, "How did I get here, and are these people really thinking they can play music and sing??" Elizabeth told me he very quietly said to her, "I feel like I'm in an episode of 'Modern Family." Is that good or what?? So Jake...so understated, and yet, so witty! I loved this, when I heard it, and couldn't stop smiling! I had to share this with you, as I cannot do anything to ease your pain...our family WILL NOT forget Jake, and we WILL NOT forget you. We remember...our hearts transcend to you, because we cared for your beautiful son and brother, Elizabeth's first love. Beth

Thank you so much for sharing Jake with us at Ohio Wesleyan University. Jake was such a warm hearted student who always had a smile on his face. He truly was dedicated to making the world a better place. He put so much of himself into helping others through Sig Ep’s charitable work with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Relay for Life. He helped a young boy through the Big Brothers organization and assisted women in need through Delaware Women’s City Club. There are other ways in which he touched many lives in our community. Most of all, he was a good friend to all of the brothers in Sig Ep, including our son, Brad. He will be sorely missed and he will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jake was a unforgettable guy. He was everything you'd want to call a friend or an acquaintance. I didn't know him for very long but he talked to me about his life in the short time that I did. It was pretty difficult NOT to like him. He will be sincerely missed.

I don't care how bad your golf game is, you're joining me for 18 when I join you in heaven. I'll even give you a couple strokes! You and your family are forever in my prayers.

I worked with jake at Mc sports. he was a good worker fun to be with... we made mc sports become a family.. but then we both moved down to columbus and promised each other we would keep in touch and never got the chance.. well jake im going to miss you and pray for you. love you man R.I.P

Jake was a very special guy, a hard worker and a good friend. He will truly be missed by all and especially his friends from McSports.

As a senior, and a past president he was confident that Jakob's commitment to service, compassion for others, and his zest for life would leave a positive impact on the house, as well as at OWU.
