In Loving Memory
Ella Rose Lindwurm Hanson
July 12 1916 – March 25, 2012
Ella Rose Lindwurm was born on July 12, 1916, north of Osmond, Nebraska, the second child of William and Rosa Kumm Lindwurm. Ella was baptized on September 17, 1916 and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of four years old, her mother passed away. One year later she moved by train with her father, sister Tena, and twin sister Elsie to Carlock, SD. She attended country school for 8 years.
Ella helped her father and mother. She also worked for N.Y.A. and the Cove Café.
On April 5, 1944, Ella married Carl Edwin Hanson at the Lutheran parsonage in Burke. To this union five children were born: Lloyd, Vern, Donald, Carol, and Dennis.
Ella enjoyed being a good wife, mother, and grandmother. She liked cooking, sewing, making quilts, babysitting her grandchildren, and having family and friends over to visit. Ella always enjoyed polka music and really liked going to Carlock and listening to the good music.
In 1970 Ella had an unfortunate accident and lost the sight in her left eye. Later in 2004 she developed macular degeneration in the other eye and became completely blind.
She will be missed dearly by all.
She is survived by four children: Lloyd of Gregory, SD; Don and wife Charolet of Idaho Springs, CO; Carol Anderson of Gregory, SD; and Dennis and wife Brenda of Carlock, SD. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three sisters: twin Elsie Fode, Alvina Wonnenberg, and Esther Braun; two brothers, William Lindwurm and John Lindwurm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; an infant son, Vern; her parents, William and Rosa; her step-mother, Lena Kahler Lindwurm; two sisters, Tena Neuharth and Rosie Sengleman; and one brother Phillip Lindwurm.
