Viola Barnes

Mountain Home- Viola Barnes, 87, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012.

She was born February 5, 1925 in Bono to the late J. W. and Ada Browning. She was married on March 25, 1943 to the love of her life, Ralph Barnes and made their home in Bono. They recently celebrated sixty-nine wonderful years together.

Viola worked at General Electric for thirty-one years. She received several achievements there before retiring in 1984. After retiring she and Ralph moved to Mountain Home, where they lived for the last twenty-eight years. They enjoyed their time together.

She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. One of her past times was bowling. They joined a league and bowled every week. She also was an avid cardinal fan. She hardly ever missed watching a game. Most important, she was the BEST wife, mother, friend and neighbor, anyone could ask for.

Viola is survived by her husband, Ralph Barnes; her children and their spouses, Randell and Jane Barnes of Trumann, Charlotte Holden of Mountain Home and Lisa and Allan Russell of Jonesboro; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Shy officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Bono.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Jonesboro from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Tolbert, Derek Russell, Aaron Russell, Don Browning, Bobby Davis and Norman Leonard and as honorary pallbearers, Ralph Browning, Leonard Browning, Dale Davis, Rusty McFall, John Payne and Ronny Russell.
