To Evans Family and Friends you all know what a great guy Evan was, he really had an impact on every one he met. He and I bonded instantly we shared many of the same interests and connected on all levels. I pray for all of you to be comforted at this time of sadness because we wont see him in the flesh again but hope and pray that we all see him again when our time comes, for now

Thats Evan , I miss him Dearly but I am comforted in knowing he is now at peace... Rest well my friend you trained and played hard rest now buddy... xoxo Mikey

I first met Evan when he and his Father, Dr. Ron Landry, the most Southern Gentleman, came to the Bel Air Country Club to play golf with my Father, Eddie Merrins. "The Little Pro". The first thing I noticed was that grin. A smile as wide as the Mississippi And it never seemed to leave his face! He had a quiet Southern charm, and grace that draped the intensity of a warrior. Built like a linebacker, but a swing , "oh so smooth". Chiseled and handsome. I took one look at Dr. Ron, who swings like Snead, and hits the ball a country mile. I knew where Evan got his gene! The Summer day was bright warm and Sunny. Just enough breeze to hear the leaves in the Eucaylptus trees. I told stories as I often do do! Evan wanted to know all the Hollywood tales! There are many at Bel Air!!! I made a couple good reads, Evan made a few great putts! If he missed a putt he jokingly told me I had to be a better caddy! I knew I would Love his sense of humor from that point on! We stopped at the Cantina at number 11. One of my favorite things to do. I think Dad had a caffeine free diet coke. Dr. Ron, a water! Of course Evan and I shared three hot dogs two orange freezes, couple bags of chips and a peanut power bar. I remember we both put just about everything you could, on a hot dog, but i was a bit confused as to why he asked Hector for jalepenos and Tabasco! Think that was the New Orleans eating!!! I finally met a friend who could eat more than I! And faster too. He was always hungry!!! I remember when we would hang out some time later he would want breakfast and then lunch around ten, and then another lunch at one, and then another meal before the gym, and then dinner after the gym, and if we went to a night club, it was straight to Mels Diner on Sunset for a snack before the next adventure! Back to the golf! Back to the food! At 16, we would stop to get duck food, to feed the ducks that would hurriedly come wobbling up to you after your tee shot! Hector would try and give us the duck pellets but I would grab the assorted nuts! I said "Evan, they like the nuts better, can you imagine eating pellets! He agreed. So we grabbed the nuts and another power bar to get us through the round! My Father always love to feed the ducks and watch them take flight over UCLA in the late afternoon. We always wondered where they were going! I remember the 18th tee box vividly because this is where we all took
our first group picture. I will post it when I can. We finished 18 under the famous "Swinging bridge". Into the Grill room. The 19th hole for a beer and mini ham n cheese and tuna fish sandwiches! It was here he told me about being a Marine! We all got to know one another a little bit better, and I found out that Evan enjoyed the night life on occasion! I was quick to the telephone to plan the nightime activity! It was to the "Skybar" we went. I was proud to show off my new Marine buddy. Always good to know you have a Marine at your back! And he was quite the chick magnet, if you know what I mean! Evan ended up living with me. We had the best of times! Not always easy! But for the most part a blast. He ended up telling me he had to move out and get his own place. He moved to the apt. building to my right He was now my niehbor! One year we took a trip to the Sundance Film Festival. Five guys, two dogs. My pitbull Bodhi and his Mastiff. In my Dads Dodge Sienna. It was going to be a 14 hour ride to Park, City Utah from Hollywood. As we prepared the Van in the morning I noticed King Evan making an elaborate sleeping quarter for himself in the back. Kind of squeezing us all a bit. I said what are you doing Evan. He used his Southern charm to to calm me and said. "Well Michael I'm just going to prepare a little sleeping quarter back here and take a little snooze. You do the first half of the driving, and I will do the second, then you can sleep and be fresh for Sundance". I thought wow, what a great idea. Well after about 10 hours of driving he was still sleeping. I finally pulled over for gas and all us Dawgs needed a stretch! He offered to drive, but was a little ADHD behind the wheel, so I thought it best, he go to the passenger seat and I continue. He was playing with a pen, when the spring popped out and hit him in the eye. He was intent on finding that spring but was bent over and bumping into the steering wheel. I had to order him back to the sleeping quarter. I could not handle him in the fron seat! Back he went. We arrived in Park City around 11 PM. Checked into our condo. The poor landlord had no idea! Seven Dawgs!!! Evan led the charge and wanted to go out. Everyone went but me. I was exhausted. Off to dreamland I went when I heard an Army coming to the front door around 3AM! Evan with his unmistakable laugh! And he brought Girls!!! I decided to leave my sleeping quarter and see what the boys had dragged back! Suddenly I felt refreshed as I entered the living room in my PJs. The music was on and I looked to my right. A beautiful blonde,with black leather pants, stood and stared. We had about a seven second eye lock, and then started to slow dance to the music! A feeling I had not felt in a while. All of a sudden I heard Evan yell out. "Cindy, Lets go!!! Evan had brought me the woman I would spend my next Five years with! Over the years I moved here and there. The place in Holly was just too wild! Evan moved here and there! I went to visit with him when he was living in Newport Beach! He was so prouud to show me his new place and his new dog An Akita! He always loved his Dogs. Being a trainer in the Marines. I went to Maui once to meet Cindy for a wedding on Valentines Day! Evan wanted to stay at my place. He had his dog an offered to watch my Bodhi who was having heart trouble. Bodhi passed the same day i left, on Valentines day. Evan took care of everything !The only Irish pub on the Island. Evan called. He said" Michael, you know I love you" It was then i knew! I cried for hours at the bar while the bartender continued to fill my pitcher. Evan made me the most beautiful tribute to Bodhi. He had the most sensitive soul. On black posterboard he cut out beautiful magazine pictures, and pictures of Bodhi and I with Angels wings. He took the time to cut out the words from magazines which read. LOVE LOYALTY STRENGH AND SERENITY. "IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY, AND MEMORIES A LANE, ID WALK RIGHT UP TO HEAVEN AND BRING YOU HOME AGAIN. BY EVAN LANDRY Well Evan, I wish I could do that for you now good buddy! I Miss you so, and wish i could have been with you in your time of need. The last time I saw you you were not quite yourself. I asked you what was wrong but you did not want to speak. We lost touch and you went home I did not know you wanted to be in the horse race business. Perhaps I could have helped. It will forever bug me that I dont really know why you left so soon! I LOVE Y0U. I MISS YOU I HAVE PAIN IN MY HEART AND TEARS ON MY KEYBOARD. MY ONLY COMFORT. IF THERE CAN BE ANY COMFORT. IS TO KNOW YOU ARE AT PEACE WITH MOM AND GOD IN HEAVEN. WE WILL MEET AGAIN AND LAUGH ONCE MORE LOVE YOU BROTHER. MICHAEL. DOUBLEDAWG

We are so sorry to hear of your brother Evan's passing. Never had the pleasure of knowing him but seems like a great guy.
Hold onto the memories and know you have an angel watching over all of you. Heaven is for real and he is now in eternal life with our Savior and all the loved ones who have gone before us.

My deepest sympathy to Dr.Landry and his family. I met Evan when he and Katherine would work with us in the file/phone room. I remember a handsome young man with a great personality. Please know my family will keep Evan in our prayers.
