Cara Nell Stafford, of Forney, passed away April 7, 2012. Cara was born July 5, 1964 in Hobbs, NM to Leon and Wanda Murldeen Walters and she grew up in the Johnson County, OK area. Cara attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK where she received her Bachelor's degree in accounting. She married Jason Stafford on April 5, 1988 and she had been employed at the City of Forney as Financial Director for the past 8 years.
Cara enjoyed being outdoors especially when she could fish and camping out in front of her garage with family and friends. She also was an avid motorcycle rider and she and Jason were members of the Dallas H.O.G. group, Chapter 1869. The close bonds she enjoyed with fellow riders became like a second family to her which resulted in many stories that were shared together. One story earned her the nickname, 'Cappy' after she lost Jason's gas cap off his motorcycle. She and Jason, participated in the Motorcops for Kids toy drive each year, an activity that was in keeping with Cara's generous spirit and natural gift of helping others.
Cara was preceded in death by her father, Leon Walters.
Those left to celebrate her memory are her husband, Jason Stafford; children: Haylee Stafford and Brian Stafford; grandchild, Tyler Allen Flanigan, all of Forney; mother, Murldeen Walters of Coleman, OK; brothers: Delvin Walters and wife, Jan, of Coleman, OK and Dallan Walters and wife, Barbara, of Stillwater, OK as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Forney, 1003 College St., Forney, TX, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Tuesday, April 10, at the church. In lieu of flowers,
Cara's family asks that contributions in her memory be made to the Motorcops for Kids Annual Toy Drive at www.motorcopsforkids.org. or to Dallas H.O.G. group at www.dallashog.com or 1334 W. Centerville Rd, Garland, Tx, 75040, ATTN: Kristin Draves.

Posted by: Ashley - Heartland, TX - Former Co-worker Apr 15, 2012
I had the good fortune of working for the City of Forney for a few short months in 2008/2009. I met Cara and worked with her on many occasions on matters related to budgets and procurement. I was immediately impressed with Cara's positive attitude and contagious spirit. She radiated happiness, and bragged on her kids a lot. I am saddened to hear of her passing at such a young age, and consider my life enriched for the brief months our lives' paths crossed in Forney. May God bless and comfort Cara's husband, children, family members, and friends.

We did not learn the tragic news about Cara until today, the day after her funeral. She was a beautiful person inside and out and everyone she came into contact with knew how much she loved her family. She never tired of talking about her family and showing the latest pictures from her phone. We are very saddened and we will miss her very much. We pray that her family will feel the Love and be comforted by the arms of the Lord through this difficult time and the journey ahead.

We wish to send our condolences to you and to all who were a significant part of Cara's life. You are lifted up several times daily and will continue to be lifted up as you go through this grieving journey. Just know that there are a lot of people praying you through this heartbreaking time.
It's been many years since I have seen Cara. Brian and Collin played Pee Wee football together and her and Jason were one of the couples Danny and I sat by routinely. Taylor and Haylee also played basketball in little dribblers so we we're the "psychotic parent bench" with both teams....ONLY KIDDING. I remember her always having a smile on her face and could truly tell how much she loved life!!!!
Haylee/Brian: If you ever need ANYTHING, even a shoulder to cry on, please contact us. 469-632-4382.
Sincerely,
Stacey, Taylor, Collin and Karsyn

Cara and I both worked in the offices at Sundowner Trailers. For about a year, Cara was my supervisor in Accounting. She knew almost from day one that I was a fan of the actor, Wilford Brimley. Wilford was also someone sponsored by Sundowner, and one day he called into the company with a question. Due to the nature of the question, he was directed to Cara's phone. As she was talking to him, she was waving her arms, throwing pens and pencils at the window between our offices, and motioning for me to come into her office. Once I entered her office, she put the call on speakerphone just so I could hear Wilford Brimley in person. I told that story not long ago and think of it every time I see Wilford on TV. I even got to meet him a few years ago and immediately thought of that time in Cara's office. That's just the type of person she was. She was so happy she was able to do that for me. She might have even been happier about it than I was! RIP Cara.

Cara was just a little girl when her cousin Irvin and I married. Probably some where around 8 years old. I gave her a closet full of formals made for me by my mother for my school choirs. She was the only one that I could think of that wouldn't have to remake them to fit. Love and prayers go out to your family.

Cara and I worked together at Sundowner Trailers for years. She was a person full of love, laughs & advice. Reading her nickname in her obituary "cappy" reminded me of a story I wanted to share.
One day on the way back to work from lunch I came up behind Cara driving on the highway. I noticed a long, black, foreign, rope like, object on the side of her vehicle spinning like a helicopter blade. I couldn't figure out what it could possibly be because she was really hook'n it to the office to be on time which made it difficult to identify. It wasn't until we pulled into the parking lot slowly that I realized what she had attached to her car..... it was in fact a hose from a gas pump and the gas nozzle was still in the tank. When Cara realized what had happened she was at first in disbelief....but then we literally laughed so hard we cried and fell to our knees.
I never mentioned it to her but to this day, (12 years later) every single time I put fuel in my car I think of that day and I sometimes laugh but I always smile with I think of that girl! :)
Thanks for the great laugh and memories Cara.
Heaven received another beautiful angel.<3 marla>
