Wes was in my class at Governor's School and I believe we also went to Tri-DAC summer arts camp together in middle school. Wes was always such a positive, fun-spirited person to be around, and he had a beautiful voice. I was extremely saddened to hear of his loss, but he will never be forgotten by his classmates, friends and family.

I'm just devastated by the news of Wes's passing. He was a student in one of my theory classes last spring at FSU. Not only was he a wonderful, musical, and conscientious student, but his bright and cheerful demeanor made each class more enjoyable for everyone. He simply radiated joy, which is a rare and marvelous gift. Also, I got to hear him perform in the opera last spring and was absolutely blown away by his talent. We've truly lost

Having had very little contact with Wesley, I feel I missed out on meeting a very exceptional young man. I only have a brief memory of him before the Corbett Competition backstage a few weeks ago. However, having listened to all the heart-warming stories and comments from everyone at the CCM Memorial, I am tremendously impressed by the powerful impact Wes had on all his colleagues, mentors and friends. Wes was a very special young man. I met him when he attended the Governor's School with my daughter. Wes was at FSU at the same time we were for auditions. He was so poised, independent, and kind! Blessings to Wes' family at this terrible time. I had sung with Wes in Cincinnati since last September and he was a very welcomed and talented addition to our choir.
As a parent who lost a child to SIDS at 7 months, I can in some very, very small way appreciate your loss. One doesn't intend to bury one's own children. It's been 20+ years and on some level we're still grieving. But I am hopeful that you will get through this. I am so, so sorry.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of loss.
"Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the richness of its contents
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most poignant…
Do not judge a song by its duration
Nor by the number of its notes
Judge it by the way it touches and lifts the soul
Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful…
And when something has enriched your life
And when it’s melody lingers on in your heart.
Is it unfinished?
Or is it endless?"

There are no words sufficient to express feelings at this time. I know the heartache is indescribable but want you to know you have the love and prayers from thousands of your and Wesley's friends. If the only thing one did was review his Facebook page, it is amazing how many people Wesley touched. What a wonderful young man. My prayers are with you.

Though I didn't have the good fortune of knowing Wesley that well, I know him through the stories and memories that his friends (and mine) have shared. To have touched so many lives at such a young age is truly a blessing. I give my deepest and most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones in this troubling time. May each of you find peace and happiness.

The first time I met Wes he told me that we would be instant friends for life. He was one of the most caring and gracious people I had ever met and every time I saw him he just knew how to light up a room. To Wes' family, my deepest sympathies to you all during this difficult time. My heart aches for those that grieve his loss. He will always live on in my heart and in my thoughts.

Robbie, Sharon,Craig, and Chris,
Our family shares your heavy hearts. We are so very proud of all the accomplishments Wes was able to do in such a short life. We do not know why God chose to take him so early...we can only know he is in his caring arms...talking with great composers...hitting the high notes...and singing to the heavens. We will miss him deeply and forever have him in our hearts. We are all here to stand proud as we honor the life of such a wonderful, beautiful young man. Godspeed... We love you all....Karen

Mary Beth: I am heartbroken over your loss. No parent should bury a child. Your precious Wesley is now singing as my precious Jace is playing the flute - both of them beautiful, both of them magnificently gifted, and now both of them glorifying God.

We first met Wesley in 2003 when he came with Gma Caryl to stay with us in England for a week. He was only 14 but he charmed us all. Our paths crossed briefly again in 2004 at Gma Caryl’s in Spartanburg and once again in 2007 during an overnight stay at Dad Rob’s beautiful home in Columbia. After that, as a Friend on FaceBook, I followed Wesley’s growth and amazing potential and grew more and more proud of him

I had the privilege of meeting Mark Wesley this past summer at St. Peter's Catholic Church at a performance of Warren Martin's "The True Story of Cinderella". I will always remember his powerfully rich and commanding baritone voice. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord. And let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

My heart goes out to all of Wes' family. I was a member of the Vocal Art's Ensemble with him this year. I was also applying for my Doctorate, both at CCM and FSU. Wes was a constant source of advice and support throughout the process, putting me in touch with people at both schools and helping me debate the merits of each. When I ultimately chose CCM, we were so happy that we'd be seeing each other next year

Wesley was a dear friend to me during middle and high school. He was such a positive influence to be around, never had a bad attitude. I remember him coming over to my house, playing four square during lunch, singing with him in chorus, going to his birthday parties, he even was the one that helped me with putting my contacts in! I will always remember that great smile and his amazing voice. We are going to miss you, Wes.

Wes was a friend and a mentor to me at Florida State while we were both section leaders at the same church. I am blessed to have had his presence in my life; his joy for life and music was evident whenever I spent time with him. I look back fondly at our many car rides to Thomasville together. The world is a far poorer place with him gone from it. I still can't stop weeping.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Wes while in the University Singers at Florida State University. I remember him always working hard to perfect his gift and keeping a smile on his face. Now, I believe he is smiling in Heaven and singing in God's special choir. My thoughts and prayers are with this family during this difficult time. May his precious memories and God's love be your comfort.

To Wes' family -
I am so sorry to learn about Wes' passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him through the admissions process when he auditioned at the University of South Carolina School of Music. What a talent! Though he opted to attend FSU, he was always very polite and kind to me through the admissions cycle. We became Facebook friends, and it was a joy to stay in touch with him in even this small way, following his performances

Such brilliance rarely appears on earth and is the stuff that stars are made of. Wesley joins the heavenly hosts in song, leaving this world sorrowful at his passing, but all the more beautiful for his witness.

Hi All,
I was at Florida State University when Wes was there. That is when we both found out that we graduated from the same high school (South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities). Since then, we were always close and I considered him a very special and close friend of mine...especially since he was a "Govie." Such a good man with a good heart and wonderful talent taken way too early. I love him and will always miss him.
