RevondaGail SneedGilleland, 68, of Longview, passed away at Hospice Home of High Point, NC on Sunday April 15, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. A resident of the Hickory area all of her life, Gail was born on December 26, 1943 in Hickory. She was the daughter of Nellie Ruth Sneed and Ralph E. Sneed of Hickory, who preceded her in death. Gail was a retired Certified CNA in the Restorative Care Unit at the Lutheran Home in Hickory. She was honored with many awards, including Employee of the Year while working at the Lutheran Home. Gail was a devout Christian and loved attending church at Fresh Oil Ministries in Hickory. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Sneed Bell and husband Jack of Jamestown, NC; niece, Angela Bell Bordelon (John); and great nephews: John Michael and Jack Bordelon of Garner, NC; roommate, Jean Morrison and pet dog, Buffy of Longview; aunt, Virginia Hoover of Hickory; uncle, Jay Sain of Maitland, FL; and numerous cousins. A memorial celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tammy Pettry and Pastor Kenny Duke officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A very special thank you from the family to Dr. Sally Mullany, Dr. Samuel Lentz, PA Sanya Galloway at the Wake Forest Cancer Center in Winston-Salem. Also, a special thank you to Joy White, Cindy Martin and Angela Syphasent and Hospice Home of High Point. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Home of High Point, 1803 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262 and Fresh Oil Ministries, 145 Lenoir Rhyne Blvd., Hickory, NC 28602.
