I am 45 years old and Mrs Shockey was my third grade teacher for 3 months before I went to live over seas. For the past 37+ years I have sent her a Christmas Card addressed to my Favorite Third grade teacher and she has sent me one as well. By this alone you see how much an impact she had in my life. This year my Christmas Card came back in the mail and I just now discovered of her passing. She was a real lady and I miss her.

Bonnie...
I just came across your Mom's Obituary.
I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

I didn't have your Mom as a Teacher.. just your Dad.

I have wondered thru the years, where you were,.. along with a lot of our Mt. Hope ( 1969 ) Classmates.

Although I moved away in 1964.. I always felt a closeness to Mt Hope.

Bonnie,
I heard today about the passing of your mother. She and I shared a special bond. I always enjoyed talking with her at the Cancer Center. She was a very special lady.

We are extremely sorry to hear about Doris. She was a dear friend for many years when we lived in Fayette County. It was a privilege and honor for both of us to know and work with Doris. She was always a friendly and outgoing person and a dedicated educator.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Bonnie, Jackie, and David,

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the death of your mother. Rejoice, though, that you had her with you as long as you did and that she was able to accomplish many things in her life. You'll miss her a lot, but you know that she is with her Lord.

I knew your family when you lived in Mount Hope, and your mother and mine undoubtedly worked together on a number of things at the Mount Hope Baptist Temple.

Blessings on your family.

Fayette County has lost a great teaching legacy. She was my 6th grade teacher at Fayetteville Elementary. She was truly a great and admirable teacher who really cared for her students and their desire to learn. She has and always will be a big influence on my life.

What a wonderful friend and neighbor our community and all of those around us has lost. Mrs. Shockey was such a gracious and loving friend to so many people. She was such an inspiration to all of us.

Bonnie, Jackie and David, thank you for sharing your wonderful mother with us. Bless you and your families.
