I am 45 years old and Mrs Shockey was my third grade teacher for 3 months before I went to live over seas. For the past 37+ years I have sent her a Christmas Card addressed to my Favorite Third grade teacher and she has sent me one as well. By this alone you see how much an impact she had in my life. This year my Christmas Card came back in the mail and I just now discovered of her passing. She was a real lady and I miss her.

Bonnie...
I just came across your Mom's Obituary.
I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

I didn't have your Mom as a Teacher.. just your Dad.

I have wondered thru the years, where you were,.. along with a lot of our Mt. Hope ( 1969 ) Classmates.

Although I moved away in 1964.. I always felt a closeness to Mt Hope.

Connie

Bonnie, Jackie, and David,

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the death of your mother. Rejoice, though, that you had her with you as long as you did and that she was able to accomplish many things in her life. You'll miss her a lot, but you know that she is with her Lord.

I knew your family when you lived in Mount Hope, and your mother and mine undoubtedly worked together on a number of things at the Mount Hope Baptist Temple.

Blessings on your family.

Fayette County has lost a great teaching legacy. She was my 6th grade teacher at Fayetteville Elementary. She was truly a great and admirable teacher who really cared for her students and their desire to learn. She has and always will be a big influence on my life.

Please accept our deepest sympathies and condolences in the passing of your Mother. Doris and I worked together for 28 years in the Fayette County School System. She was one of our hardest working and most talented educators. She did so many things for the children of our County that most people are not aware of. She was truly an outstanding teacher and Supervisor. All the children and teachers that she taught and worked with are better as a result of knowing and working with Doris.

Dear Family,
When I think of Doris, I see light, beauty, humor, and the most excellent devotional messages that I have heard during my lifetime. When Doris presented these to our Fayette Study Club, everyone was mesmerized and came away with an uplifted feeling.
Doris was always happy, always smiling, always looking like the fancy lady that she was, and we had a special bond forged years ago. My granddaughter Marisa will always treasure the gifts that Doris so thoughtfully

I'm not sure what year that Doris and I met...we attended Mt. Hope Baptist Church for many years, I taught her children in Sunday School...how the years fly.
Our prayers go out for Bonnie, Jackie and David and their families. We know the loss is a great one and she will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with her, especially those she worked with through the years. So sorry to hear that she's gone on now but the memories will remain.
