On June 13 at 7:30 AM, the angels came and relieved Richard Brooks, 77 of Winter Springs, Florida, of his tremendous pain and suffering and took him home to be with the Lord.

Richard was born in Lancaster New Hampshire on August 18, 1934 to the late Hollis Brooks and Bernice Robinson.

Richard proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and retired in 1974 as a Master Chief Petty Officer.

As a young boy, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing with his siblings in Northern New Hampshire. His love for the outdoors continued into adulthood, as he hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail with his five children, was active in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master, and was a Mentor and head Chef at a YMCA Camp in Northern Wisconsin.

Richard was an Advisor for United People In Christ (UPIC) and was active in leading the food bank ministry at a local church.

Richard was a devout Christian and dedicated his life over the last several years to saving the lost. He always helped everyone he could and had a special place in his heart for helping widows, orphans and homeless people.

Richard is survived by his siblings; John, James, David, Peggy and Beverly; his children; Ricky, Harvey, Thor, Richard and Holly; his grandchildren; Chris, Joey, William, Marie, Marilee, Mary Jean, Naomi, Jonathan, Sara, Emily and Christy; and eight great-grandchildren.

Just wanted to take a moment to thank all those who attended the funeral service in tribute to my dad last evening. Was a wonderful service and especially appreciate the thoughtful message, eulogies, and flowers that were delivered in honor of his life.

Would also like to thank the outstanding staff of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral home for facilitating the service, and the staff and volunteers of Hospice of the Conforter Center for taking such great care of my dad,our family and extended family the last couple of weeks.

Thank you Gramps for being a wonderful Grandpa.
I will always remember your positive attitude towards everything, and all of your crazy stories.
I will remember our jam sessions (you playing the harmonica and me playing the guitar)
I will remember your willingness to help others.
I also remember all the advice you gave me.
I could see Christ in your heart every time I saw you. You inspired me to do my best at everything I do.
I know you're in a wonderful place where there is no pain or suffering. A place where there is no worries. A place where you're with Jesus. Your work on earth is done. Now enjoy the rest of your life with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

The first memory that comes to mind when I think of Uncle Richard is his kindess, his smile, and calm demeanor. He always had a story to share and advice to give. I will never forget when he came to my wedding - he volunteered to film the entire ceremony! His comical comentaries will always make me smile.

I remember taking a family trip with Mom, Dad, and Amy for vacation to Illionois. We stayed with Uncle Richard and Aunt Shirley. Every morning they would prepare a big breakfast for us! Uncle Richard had something interesting and fun planned for us every day! We made so many great memories on that trip.

I feel so very blessed to have know Uncle Richard. My love goes out to all his family.

Thank you Dad for all the good times we shared over the years. Some of my fondest memories growing up were the trips up to New England spending time camping and fishing, hiking on the Appalachean Trail, working as your assistant at Camp Jorn, the bicycling trips to Wisconsin, and the numerous trips we shared crossing the country.

Thank you for encouraging me to stick with it in the Navy and remain focused on the destination, not the journey, and for being there for my commissioning and receipt of my college degrees.

I love and miss you Dad. You are in a better place now where there is no pain and suffering. We will meet again someday.

Thank you Uncle Richard for your mentorship and advice during the various visits growing up. As kids, we always looked forward to times shared together up in North Country and eargerly awaited to see what you had in your big bag of goodies (navy treasures that you collected over a 22+ distinguished career). I can remember racing through 2ft of fresh snow against brother John in the clearing of our North Stratford camp like it was yesterday. A competition that you sparked and the winner would be handed a one of a kind spanish blade you had acquired many years before in that far away foreign port that only sailors get to talk about.

Remembering the great times we have shared over the years.. Growing up on the farm in Lost Nation..Hunting and fishing- and we could never forget the rafts we built to allow us to visit the Ice Pond, and catch those big brook trout.. How about climbing that forbidding Owls Head and the shear cliff that we never did conquer. The camping trips with John,Jr. Deer hunting over every mountain in Groveton, and some in Lancaster.

Our trips to Florida to visit and enjoy the many attractions in your area.. How about that great deep-sea fishing trip with Ray Kimball..so many wonderful memories...May you enjoy everlasting now
