I was shocked and saddened to learn of Marks passing. I worked with him at Elmendorf AFB, AK. His smile lit up a room and he always had a funny adventure to share. I will never forget flying over the mountain ranges of Alaska listening to Vivaldis Four Seasons! I imagine he is still flying high above the clouds somewhere on even greater adventures, recanting hilarious stories of his short time on earth.

Dr Shope delivered both my daughters, in 1994 and 1998. He was a warm, delightful, caring person who calmed even the most outrageous cases of nerves. I still remember how amusingly nervous he was around my first daughter after she was born - as if once she was out in the open he didn't quite know what to do. He was very sweet and I'm saddened at his passing, that my daughters won't have the chance to know him if they have children. Rest in peace.

I was very heartbroken to hear of Dr. Shopes passing. He delivered both of my children in 2001&2004. I could not have asked for a more caring and compassionate Dr.
He was always so upbeat and encouraging and always had the biggest smile and greatest stories of his adventures. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He will be greatly missed.

I just learned of Dr Shope's illness & passing. It brings great sadness to my heart. Mark was my doctor before I had children & delivered my first - a son. Dr Shope used to say the nicest things to me. He said he couldn't wait for me to have kids because we needed more people like me in the gene pool! How kind is that!? He also said, when I was considering a water birth, that it "isn't a

I just found out about Dr. Shope's passing today. I don't remember him very much but Dr. Shope actually delivered me into this world at Yokota AFB 32 years ago on November 24, 1984. He would be missed. I don't remember him since I was the baby he delivered and was only a new born baby at the time November 24, 1984 on the Saturday after Black Friday in 1984.

Dr. Shope was my doctor when I was pregnant with my son born in 1998. He remained my doctor until I moved out of state in 2007. When I first saw him I was a scared 18 year old. He spoke so kindly and so softly and calmed my fears. He was the best doctor and I think of him often. I googled him today and came across his obituary. I am deeply saddened by his death. Rest in peace Dr. Shope and thanks for being great!!

I googled Dr. Shope today. I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was my doctor during the pregnancies of my two children, 1999 & 2000, and until I moved out of the state in 2004. I have been brought to tears and share all of the sentiments of the people who have written in this lovely memory book. He had a spirit unlike any other doctor I have met. Blessing to him and his family.

I just found out today that Mark passed away. I'm so sad.......He delivered my two girls; 1991 & 2003. He was the most compassionate person I've ever met. His sense of humor was awesome. He will be greatly miss! Rest in peace Mark. Fish away

I just found this today. I had moved out of the NW in 05 and recently returned and am truly shocked and saddened by this. I don't think I would have my two beautiful daughters without now without him, both were high risk pregnancies and I had lost others before. I was actually looking forward to seeing him again and catching up on life {my husband and mark spent just as much time talking during our appts about hunting as

I am so sorry to hear about Dr Shope, what a sweet man he was I only went to him for a short time but he truly cared about his patients. His smile lit up the exam room every time I saw him.
