Chad, Todd and family,
I along with many others had the good fortune to work for Star in Pembroke Pines. As you probably already know she was very much the belle of the ball and no matter what time of day it was she had a smile on her face. She will be missed here by members and employee but never forgotten. Her passion and commitment to Y is instilled in all of us who knew her and I know that she will be guiding us from heaven. God Bless!

Dear Todd and Chad,
Star's Grandmother (Lena DeBoe,) and my Grandmother (Ola Mae - "Bunch" Lapish,) were sisters, so that would make Star and I third cousins. I vividly remember her in my childhood, because our Grandmothers and Millie and Don all lived within a block of each other. I always thought she was such a beautiful person - inside and out, and now seeing her picture and reading what people are writing about her, I see that she never lost

Best memory ever! Christmas of 2010 and we were all gathered at Chad and Nate's with grandsons, Ethan and NIcholas. Didn't know we were about to get a BIG surprise, when our daughters, Anne and Patty (from Maryland), flew in to Florence to join us and Star, Chad and Nate were all in on the surprise. Guess it was the BIG SECRET for months! We had the BEST time as one big happy family sharing the festivities together. From an

Chad, I never had the opportunity to meet your mother, but knowing the wonderful person you are, can only mean that she was a very special lady. You have been in my thoughts for the past several days and I hope that time will ease the pain. I know her memory will live on forever through you. Take Care.

I am going to miss a dear friend. We shared many laughs together. I am so blessed she and I got to reconnect during the past year when she returned to the Y. That was home to her, a place where she belonged and where she could make a real difference in this world. She's moved on to a new place now and I'm sure she's looking down at her family and friends with a gentle smile. Rest well my friend. Your memory lives on in all of us.

Chad and family,

I am so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful sweet woman. I am praying for your family to heal during this difficult time. I wish we could be there to say our goodbyes. I remember Star gave me my first job working for her at the YMCA when we moved back to Spartanburg. She was a truly amazing woman and I have to give her credit for my work ethic today because I looked up to
