Ernestine L. Sherfield

Ernestine L. Sherfield, 85, of Spencer, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at IU Health Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville. She was born on June 8, 1927 to the late Arlo and Elsie (Wright) George of Koleen, Indiana. She married John A. Sherfield on December 28, 1946 and he survives.

Mrs. Sherfield worked at RCA in Bloomington for many years. She then worked at Otis Elevator, retiring after 19 years of service. She had volunteered her help at the RBB Family store in Ellettsville many years. Ernestine was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 40 years, and a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, holding the office of President for two years.

She is also survived by her children, Jeffery (Susan) Sherfield of Spencer, Charlotte (Howe) Clark of Avon and Robin; brother, Sam George of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was a brother, James George and sisters, Roselyn Calvert, Willadean George, Venita Hacker and Maxine Stultz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Spencer with Rev. Shannon Benham officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home and Tuesday, 9 a.m. until service time at the church. An Eastern Star memorial service will be held Monday at 7 p.m.
